Letting go of my big clothes!!!!
I've lost 70 lbs in10 months and little by little I've been giving or throwing away my big clothes, but I had this size 20 blue night gown that I wore up till last night. My husband said please throw that away it so big on you now go buy new night wear. It hit me then that I was still wearing some big clothes so I threw that gown away and I felt like it was a funeral. I was sad to let it go. I went and bought a size 11/13 night gown and wow I really do look much better. Has anyone else went through this?
I pretty much had the exact opposite reaction. As soon as something was too big, frumpy or dumpy looking, it was off to Goodwill.
I was so ready to be rid of all the big clothes in my closet.
(although sort of wishing I'd kept a few big tshirts to cut up, sew and modify into maternity shirts now)
I'm sorry you had such an emotional response to letting go of big clothes... however, I bet you look fabulous!

Most of my clothes I was happy tp get rid of, but there were a couple favorite things that were tough. I still wear some of my 3x pajama pants (I am a size L). I just tie the drawstrings really tight. Once you get those things worn in and soft it's hard to start over. Plus they're just pj's (0: But I will say I only wear them as a last resort. It is so much more comfy to wear something that actually fits.
Mommy to 2 of the most beauiful little girls in the whole universe and still in love with my hubby of 8 years. LIFE IS GOOD!
I had a terrible time getting rid of my old clothes. I would get them out of my closet, but just keep them in the storage room. I can't wear anything that doesn't fit, it drives me crazy. I was just so sure I would need it again. I comprimised, and i kept everything from a size 16 down ( I was a size 10/12 when i got pregnant).
I had 2 huge garbage bags full of my old clothes. They were so big I couldn't even attempt to wear them anymore. I put them in the garage to bring to the Goodwill or donate but I never got around to it and refused to let my husband throw away so many good clothes. I tried to give them away but everyone I asked said they were on a diet and wouldn't need them soon. (I'm sure!) So one day my husband just threw them away. When I finally realized, I got so upset! Now I see that he did me a favor! He threw away that fat girl that I will never be again. No matter what happens I will NOT allow myself to fit in those clothes again!! I still have a lot to get rid of because my newer small clothes from last summer don't fit me this summer but now I just keep telling myself that I will get them taken in! Haha I should really just chuck em!

I had a few things that I loved - a couple jumpers and sweaters - that I really loved and were pretty expensive, so I had them altered! I know a great seamstress, and she altered them down from a size 3X to a size 10! I only did this with a couple things though - and I did keep my biggest jeans to remind myself I am never going back there!!
I had a bag full of clothes ready to donate, and then as I got more pregnant and my "new" clothes (mostly the pants and shorts) didn't fit anymore I was glad to be able to dig back into my old stash. :P Fortunately I've only gone up 2 sizes on the bottom and stayed pretty much the same on top (although now shirts are being stretched over the bump to some degree.) I am delaying buying maternity pants/shorts until I absolutely have to.
