Kinda odd....dont know how to "subject it"
The dependency issue is when someone takes them everyday for all 40 weeks or is using non prescribed narcotics such as heroin, cocaine etc. Also the risk is greater in the 1st trimester when organs are being developed. Just follow the directions, take it when you need it. I've seen many people on them for kidney stones or chronic pain during the pregnancy and the babies came out fine. Basically there are not adequate and controlled studies to label it any higher than a class C...because people won't "die" from pain, such as blood pressure meds they have to study them because the mother could have a stroke etc...so basically the studies on it are nill to none!
I had migranes in my 2/3rd trimester but in the last 2-3 weeks were the worst and they said I could take Tylenol 3 or Fiorcet. I did take them and Molly was/is healthy!
You and Claudia our in our prayers for a safe and healthy delivery! :)

I don't post here much but I just wanted to let you know that you are NOT a horrible Mama for wanting some relief and if it wasn't safe the Dr. wouldn't give it to you. For the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy I took phernergan and demerol around the clock ( I had a horrible gallbladder issue) I was in pain even when I would drink I tried to keep it under control myself with warm ( well really hot, don't tell anybody, lol) baths and breathing techniques but it was pointless. I don't know if you have ever had gallbladder problems but the pain is horrible some people recon it with labor ( I had a cs so I have no idea) but anyways my point is long story short my baby was fine and I didn't have to suffer in horrible pain and was able to keep him baking as long as possible ( thats really the most important thing). So take the meds get some relief there is no reason to hurt when you don't have to. I will say about the ambien though my Dr. prescibed to me too and after I got it filled I was reading up on it and it said that if taken within so many weeks of delivery that the baby can experience withdrawl syndrome so I did NOT take them, but to each their own just my two cents worth. I hope you get sonme relief soon and don't worry your baby will be here soon and everything wioll be just fine. P&PT's.
I had gall stones and kidney stones post WLS and they are by far the worst pain ever! It was worse than labor in my experience. And you are so right the Doc ordered it for a reason not just for giggles! There is such a stigma around pain meds, its awful!

There are other pain meds they could've given you besides a category C one that they DID give you. Sounds like a pretty idiotic Dr. to me, but I should add that when you get down to it, when you're in pain and you need something and you're following the prescription, you should generally be ok and the baby too, as long as your Dr. knows you're pregnant which I'm sure yours does. (But you'd be surprised by some women who hide it, just so they can get the drugs prescribed to them that they want! Tragic)
Anyway, I'm just miffed that they're going through all the trouble with terbutaline when you're already at term. Why are they not letting you deliver if you're TRULY in labor? Makes no sense to me.
I hope you get relief soon!
