Appt Today
Had my OB appointment today. The baby is well. I had high blood pressure today so I am the proud recipient of blood pressure pills for the remainder of pregnancy. I have to go back on Thursday and if it is still high, I will be put on bed rest. So, cross your fingers the blood pressure medicine works. This will be the first time going on blood pressure pills in my life! I am just in shock!

No, they try to put you on blood pressure medicines and dosage. There are several they try. The doctor said that a lot of times medicine works especially for someone like me who has never been on BP meds in my life and that it is just pregnancy induced. She said she has many patients on two different medication for BP. Now, if the medication doesn't bring it down - yes bed rest. Then, if it still goes up you can be hospitalized and/or have to deliver the baby. This is the first time my bp has been high and she wants to be proactive. So, that is why I go back Thursday to see how I respond to the BP meds.

I was on 1000 mg of aldomet when I was pregnant with DD. I did end up with preeclampsia. I was in the hospital for 5 days before I was induced at 37 1/2 weeks. My blood pressure was like 159/98 thats on the blood pressure meds. They put me on BP meds at the start of the pregnancy and I took the pills the whole time. Don't worry Traci I bet the pills will work for you. Just keep an eye on your BP. If you don't already have a BP monitor I would get one and just check it daily. I also felt a little dizzy from the pills so don't worry if that happens to you. If you start swelling up big time check with your OB. That was one of my signs that there was also something wrong. I gained like 13 lbs in a week. Hope you get it taken care of and you don't have to go on bed rest.
I have also had HBP w/Jakob. I was on medicine prior to pregnancy and was taken off right in the beginning. In my 5th month it got high again and then I ended up with preeclampsia. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks but wasn't induced. Jakob decided to come on his own and I delivered him vaginally at 36 weeks. I am still on medicine for now but not very much. I hope things go well. Few clues if your doc hasn't mentioned them. (Don't add extra salt your food, don't eat any one item with more than 300 mg of sodium prepacked foods are loaded with it and so are most can goods. I switched to fresh or frozen veggies and did away with microwaveable meals and that helped a lot. Let me know how it goes.
336lbs 6/19/06 - 198 lbs - 6/19/10 138 lbs gone forever!!!
We have our miracle: Jakob Makhi born 4-15-10; 4 lbs. 10 oz. 22" long.
Yes, we eat fresh veggies now since the garden is producing. Prior to that, we did frozen veggies. We don't eat a lot out of a can. As for microwave meals, I don't eat much of those either. My craving has been salads. Today, I had just lettuce, cucumber, radish, and broccoli salad with some dressing (not very much). I hate salt so don't really salt my foods. I guess the 100 degree weather with high humidity is kicking my butt :)
I am sure hoping the medication works.
