If you had the sleeve I am just wondering how you gained during your pregnancy. Was it hard to get enough food for you and the baby?

Just found out I am about 5 weeks along nad I have not had any increased hunger but worried that I will be overeating any day now!

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! That's wonderful news. I hope to see you on this board frequently, the ladies on here are great! Sorry, I didn't have the sleeve I had RNY but I figured I'd answer anyway. So far for this pregnancy I've gained 27 pounds. My doctor seems pleased with that. I should be able to stay under the 35 pound weight limit I gave myself since I only have about 6 weeks left...hopefully. A lot of women lose weight in the beginning. And some of the girls on this board end up only gaining 10-15 pounds for their whole pregnancy. For me, I think the surgery really helped keep my eating under control. The baby is growing fine (actually she's really huge).

How far out from surgery are you? Have you started taking a prenatal vitamin? That's really important. It's also really important to start getting more carbs in your diet. I think you're supposed to shoot for 100 grams a day.

Good luck & keep us posted!

I totally understand the fear of gaining all the weight back. I have seen many posts on here regarding the same topic (I think I was one of them early on). It's tough because you know you want to give the baby what the need (like food) but you also don't want to be where you were before surgery. I totally understand!

I was only 6-7mo post-op when I found out I was expecting. My biggest fear was also gainging weight back. Currently near the end of my pregnancy and my fear is I am NOT gaining ENOUGH weight, LOL

I wasn't at goal weight and weighed about 213# when I got my BFP. In the beginning I did gain a few pounds and then morning sickness set in. I didn't worry about getting hungry in the beginning because I knew m/s would set in at some point and I wanted SOME sort of cushion for the weight loss I knew I'd have.

By the start of my 2nd trimester I had lost down to my lowest weight of 196#; a 17# weight loss in the first trimester. I then leveled off and stayed between 196-199 for about 3 months, with every passing wee****pt thinking "This will be the week I'll start gaining the pregnancy weight." and yet it never happened.

My appetite has been fairly good. I get the carbs in and I get my proteins in. I try to eat a healthy balanced diet, but some of my sweet tooth returned, but because of my restriction with the VSG I can't eat a whole lot of anything which keeps me on track and not too worried about weight gain anymore, like I was in the beginning.

By the third trimester I gained up to 207ish. My personal goal we to NOT go over 215 or 220, if at all possible, so I figured I had at least 8 more pounds to go before the end of my pregnancy.

I'm now sitting at 35 weeks and have backslid a bit. I've been having trouble getting in enough food and have lost weight again and am back at 202#. I'm really struggling to get the calories and protein and even carbs in right now and I don't like it. I really should be gaining weight not losing weight right now.

I know when baby gets here I can easily lose 20-30# just by giving birth. My maternity clothes are starting to get LOOSE!!

I usually give birth between 37 and 39 weeks so I can go at anytime.

Your metabolism WILL pick up for the baby's sake so I really wouldn't worry about weight gain. Your baby will get what it needs from you and most of us RNY or VSG tend to have waves of being able to eat well and then going back to not being able to eat well.

So right now from my experience, I have not had a whole lot of weight gain, and in fact have lost a lot of weight while pregnant, but again I was only 7mo post-op too so had some give on the weight loss.

Still, I was extremely worried about gaining weight while pregnant and now I am at the opposite end of the spectrum and TRYING to gain weight FOR the pregnancy, LOL

I am more worried NOW that I'll be able to eat enough to support breastfeeding demands.

I'm 8 months post op VSG and just found out this week that I'm pregnant with #3 (first pregnancy was twin girls). This was totally not planned but DH and I are past the shock and now pretty excited about the new addition.
I'm about 5 wks and not worried at all about getting enough food/calories for baby and I.
You only need 300-500 extra calories a day for a healthy baby/pregnancy. That's some extra full fat yogurt and some peanut butter. Not a big deal.

Goodluck with your pregnancy! Looks like well be due around the same time.
