Please Read - HELP!!!

I just had my gallbladder out, and while I was under, they realized my pregnancy test that was negative - turned positive.  So they did a blood test and it was positive.  I was shocked, the doctor said he was really sorry, that it was too late to stop because I was already under and they had started surgery.  Well, since this was not planned, I mentioned that I was not keeping it (long story short - I have had way too many complications being pregnant in the past, so I was going to abort)  I decided that there is no way I can do that.  But now I am worried, what did he mean by that??  What kind of complications could there be from that?  I am 6 weeks pregant today and very worried now.  Also I only had my bypass 7 months ago, so I am too early to get pregnant too.  Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!!!  Thanks so much in advance.

I don't know what having surgery would cause but I wish you luck and hopefully it didn't have any adverse effects.

I don't understand the part about " But now I am worried, what did he mean by that?? " what did he mean by what? you were already under so continuing the surgery was the obvious thing to do and you needed the gallbladder out so he finished. most likley if it hurt the baby you would miscarry.

so are you going to continue the pregnancy? what made your previous pregnancy compilcated?

when was your surgery? have you seen an ob? I would see an OB ASAP. Get your labs done etc.

I am sorry your going through this hopefully it will work out! hugs! :)

I am worried now that I decided the right thing to do is to keep the baby, before I wasn't in that state of mind, so if anesthesia had any effect that was ok, but now it's not.

I am continuing with the pregnancy, my past is long - I was on fertility drugs and finally got pregnant 3 years later only to miscarry.  Than I got pregnant on my own, and delivered at 21 weeks pregnant so he didn't make it.  Than I got pregnant again only to loose that one at 20 weeks pregnant.  So in the mean time I have 2 adopted boys.  Pregnanacy was never something I would have considered again after all I went through.

My surgery was 2 weeks ago, and I went to my ob and had an ultrasound yesterday, but that was when they thought I was having an abortion.  But I cannot go through with that.  So since I lost the past 3 babies under the care of that place, I have switched OBGYN offices and I don't have an appointment until the end of the month.

Sorry if Im all over the place with this, I was trying to answer your questions.

thats wonderful you are continuing with the pregnancy. you have come to a great place for support! I just needed to know more before I went further. I lost a baby at 20 wks so I can somewhat relate I can't imagine 2x though! You are strong.

First of all you need labs! Are you taking your vitamins? so the u/s went good then? You need to find out asap if you have an incomptent cervix. Being you lost 2 babies at 20/21 weeks, did they do any tests, do they know what the cause was? what happened did your water break? Sorry I am asking so many questions.

Why do I need labs?  I am taking my vitamins, and the ultrasound was fine.  I have an appointment on the 30th and the cervix is the first issue I will be talking about.
The first time I was bleeding and they put me in the hospital but only for a night, they sent me home and my water broke that day.  So they second time - I worried the whole pregnancy, but they assurred me it was a freak thing and my cervix was fine.  I just knew something was going to be wrong.  I went to the doctors again bleeding and they saw my cervix was open once again, so I was sent to a good hospital, put on bed rest tilted backwards for 2 days, they did an amnio and the fluid was not clear so they told me they had to induce me because the baby wouldn't make it.  So the new doctors I am going to are affiliated with that hospital, and they really did try and do everything so I am hopeful that the right thing will be done this time.

to check your vitamin levels I take mine and still am anemic, with you being to early out from gastric bypass you are more at risk for low levels. I would bet you have an incomptent cervix and will need a cerclage and bedrest. let us know how your appt goes. good luck!

If I were you, I'd insist on being seen by a high-risk OB/GYN.  Have they ever found out why you went into early labor with your others (I can't even imagine what that was like...and to have gone through it 2x...[[HUGS]])? Did they do any genetic testing?  Testing you?

My guess re the dr is that he couldn't stop the surgery once started.  Though having surgery while pregnant is obviously not the ideal thing to do...it has been done in the past and people have delivered healthy babies.

Good luck - I hope you can find a dr who can help keep this pregnancy going...and that you have a healthy little one as a result.

You don't share a bloodstream with the baby until it's 6 weeks old so you should be fine as far as the anesthesia goes.
Good luck!
