One year ago tonight..... (pics!)
I was timing contractions. I was 5 days past my due date and had eaten a lunch of a deep fried "Mone Cristo" sandwich for lunch when the contractions began..... In the days prior I had walked 3+ miles a day, driven on bumpy roads, had lots of sex (not very comfortable) and ate tons of spicy food. Finally it was the deep fried / batter dipped sandwich and fries that did it! (And it tasted better than castor oil!)
Tomorrow Cooper turns 1 year old. How fast time flies. My baby will be a "toddler" tomorrow. A toddler. It pains me to type those words.
He doesn't have his 1 year check up until Friday.....but he's wearing 2T clothing, was 28lbs at his 9 month visit and started crawling (hands and knees!) the day before Mother's Day. For those of you *****member I stressed quite a bit about crawling and language development. Cooper butt scooted for 2 months before crawling. He pulls up on everything and cruises around the furniture, but I think it will still be a couple of months before we see him walk. I'm not in any hurry.
I WOULD like him to say just one word! He points to everything and has for months. He can point to different animals in books, knows objects around him, etc. BUT HE WON'T SAY ANYTHING !! The pedi told me "3 words by 1 year" , but he has no words. :-(
(And yes, I talk to him all the time and I read to him 20+ minutes a day. He loves books and words and points to words when we're out shopping, etc so I can read them to him.)
I have been blessed with a perfect baby with the exception of sleep. He still likes his middle-of-the-night bottle(s). Oh well - more cuddle time for me!
So I shed a little tear tonight as I just put my "baby" to bed for the last time.... tomorrow I will be putting my toddler to bed!
Here are the pics! We had his party last Sunday. I was so looking forward to the cake smash because I KNEW Cooper would love it. (He loves messes!) Well daddy put the cake in front of him while my back was turned getting the camera and, of course, he reached for the lit candle and 30 people screamed "HOT" at him and he started to cry..... so our first attempt at cake smashing was a bust. BUT I baked him a cake tonight and we celebrated with just us..... and he did love it!!
He loves balloons!
First Attempt at cake smashing....
Peaking out the door waiting for guests to arrive
Crawling around everyone's feet at the party
And our 2nd attempt at the cake ! Much better this time....
Enjoy your babies now - even if they are still in you - because they grow way too quickly!

For his birthday I printed out all his middle finger pictures and put them on poster board (I had to leave out several for them to fit) and put "Cooper, that's not the finger you use to tell us you're one!"

I was thinking of you in the middle of the night last night when I was feeding Amelia because she was giving me the finger lol If it wouldn't have woken her p I would have taken a picture.
Hope all is well! How's hubby doing?

Hubby is status quo....good days / bad days. He is going to have surgery to put in the port for dialysis in the next month or so.... and he JUST told me when he's on diaylsis he'll have lifting restrictions.... I was like "uh.... for years??" so he has to find out. He thought he wasn't allowed to lift more than 20lbs which will be a HUGE problem. That means he'll never be able to stay alone with Cooper (well until Cooper is much older). Even toddlers, in case of emergency, need to be picked up! I hope he's wrong about the restrictions!
Thanks for asking... I'm sure I just gave you way TMI. heh heh.
Enjoy your maternity leave and your little girl! Soon she'll be a teenager flipping you off for real!
