percentage rate of beoming pregnant before your 12 month post op annivesary? Me and my husband have been talking about it and want to have another baby.. and are using protection but we are just curious? Also, what are the complications of becomeing pregnant before you have been out of surgery for 12 months?

well the complications are related to ketosis and your weight loss. You will be the one to suffer the most. Ketosis is a HUGE concern, as you are loosing weight rapidly your body is in ketosis which is very very dangerous for fetal nervous system (*BRAIN*) development. Also you would have to eat more and add carbs back into your diet which is detrimental to your weight loss.

My best advice is to wait. Also use multiple sources of protection - ie a barrier method (condoms) and something else (pills, diaphram, etc)

Good luck!

Ketosis is basically your body using the stored up fat as energy - it's a high level of ketones in the body. It doesn't hurt us but it is too much for the little growing baby

I am glad that you are being careful! Best to get yourself as healthy as possible first then delve into having a baby. I was 2 1/2 years out when I got pregnant and after delivery my iron and B12 tanked. I am working diligently to get them back up to normal levels.
