Pregnant at 12 mos post RNY - need doctor advice
I just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant. I am a little over 1 year post-RNY. I was almost to goal...but have had stable weight at 135 for about 1.5 months. My question is...does anyone know how to find an OB/GYN who has experience with post-WLS pregnancies? I live in Los Angeles county area. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am really nervous.
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
I had picked the hospital that I knew I wanted to have the baby ( I actually went as far as asking my attorney for the least amounts of lawsuits). Then I called and asked to set up an appointment with a doctor that is most experienced with having RNY patients. That is when I was referred to a high risk doctor, just because they are more aware there! So I also have other issues that I feel more comfortable with the high risk for right now!
Good Luck

I have a cousin that works in maternity at the hospital I wanted to deliver at so I was lucky. I picked her brain on who she would suggest that has experience.
That being said... I would pick a hospital then call the OB's that go to that hospital and ask if they have experience. The other suggestion I have is ask your surgeon. That wasn't an option for me since the hospital he goes to is 45 minutes to an hour away.

I got pregnant by accident 3 months post-op, i'm now 21 weeks along. I found that the people who understand RNY patients the best are the high risk OB perinatologists. I am not considered high risk, my labs are great and I have no ill effects from weight loss and pregnancy BUT I went to them because I knew they most likely had experience. I can't give you any recommendations because I don't live in that area, but just look up perinatologists and they can help you!
