discomfort / nausea every time i eat
Hi
I am 24 weeks pregnant with my 1st child, had lap RNY in 2007 with no problems since.
however, lately i am feeling full very quickly and it seems like i start getting dumping symptoms at the drop of a hat. things that never bothered me post surgery when i ate them now seem to wreak havoc...for instance, tonight it was a sweet salad dressing. ive had to watch sugar since surgery but not in these little amounts. has anyone else experienced increased sensitivity to foods once pregnant? its kind of annoying and like im figuring out foods i can tolerate all over again...plus dumping is painful!

It's probable that it has something to do with the baby pressing on your digestive track. From my experience most of us end up with some eating problems in the 2nd half due to the fact that there's not enough room. the dumping stuff comes and goes through out pregnancy with me. I dump from the craziest stuff while pregnant, plus I have hyperemesis which doesn't help.
Try things (a few bites) and give yourself time to react before you commit to the entire meal. (which is hard b/c of the quantity that we eat).
Good luck and hang in there. Atleast it's half way over!

I no longer have any clue what will make me dump. Something might not bother me one day and the next make me sick as a dog. I do know that whatever I am craving doesn't make me sick.
That's a good thing cause if you tried to take away my Butterfingers or anything sour (think key lime pie, lemon candy etc.) I would have to hurt you. I have noticed there are some days I can't eat anything and others I can eat more. I think it has to do with where the baby is sitting.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Funny....I came on here to see if anyone else had been experiencing this. I too feel like I dump on almost everything, but not consistently on the same things. I had my first encounter ever with "the foamies" this week. Normally after I eat, I either get sick or have to lie down. My husband, who does most of the cooking, doesn't know what to do with me anymore. I too worry because I am still down 11 lbs from the beginning of the pregnancy. My ticker shows my gain from my lowest weight.
Today I am going to try soup, since that was the only meal yesterday that seemed to go okay.
Hopefully it starts getting easier for both of us soon.

Mine seems to come in waves too. If I can get on a good eating roll, I can usually stay on it. But if I forget to eat for a day or two then I go downhill fast and it's a struggle to get back to eating "normally".
Just recently I had to cut out a LOT of carbs and sugars because of oral thrush/yeast infection. Since that was a big part of my diet I've struggled with finding things to eat. Proteins are hard on my system it seems while pregnant so it takes 3 times as long to eat and each bite makes me feel sick.
I couldn't even finish my protein shake this morning and had to give it to my DS who loves them.
So i am right there with you. Plus I hate that I end up losing weight too. This late in the game I want to gain weight not lose it. AI lost 5lbs in the last week!
