Update on Me (LONG)
Hi everyone. I am not sure how many people actually know too much about me anymore, as I rarely post. Those who do remember me may think I am a ***** I am not losing sleep about it.
At any rate, many of you are friends with me on Facebook, but I don't post this stuff there, because well...it isn't everyone's business. But, as you could see from another post, I received some good news recently (yet frustrating).
After almost 4 years TTC, multiple IUIs, and 4 losses, my husband's insurance now covers infertility treatments (including IVF) up to $10,000 lifetime at 80%/20%. Great! Well, except that they changed the policy in June 2009 and never told us. GRRRR. So, the last two IUIs I did hit against the $10,000 for $2600. We complained to my husband's HR and they realized it was their fault and increased our's to $13,000 knowing we never would have done those IUIs since IVF is now covered. They have never found a cause for our infertility.
So now we can proceed - ISH. I am actually waiting until the beginning of the year to do IVF for both financial and health reasons. First of all, I need to drop some weight and am working towards this. I never quite made it to goal and 2 years of infertility meds HAS NOT HELPED (holy sheesh). As for financial, waiting until the beginning of the year will allow us to put the max flex spend in to cover our part....
And since we only get roughly $10,000 and MEDS count against it, I am going to use the next 5 months to accumulate meds from other sources. Every gonal f 900 pen hits my insurance for $900, so if I can gather leftovers, donations, or buy them cheaper elsewhere, that is what I am going to do. If I am successful in doing this, it will allow me to do more than one IVF, since the procedure**** it at a negotiated rate. IUI's only hit my insurance for $63 (so of $2600, $126 was procedure, $2450 was MEDS! SERIOUSLY!). So, if meds don't hit my $10,000...I am guessing an IVF cycle may be only like $3000 after negotiated rates (based on other people's bills). Then, FETs are cheaper.
The only risk is that his HR (it is a self-funded policy) could cancel that lifetime max coverage for next year. They will know in November. I doubt they would, but who knows. I consult with my RE on 6/28 and I am going to make sure that if we find out in November, we can get a quick cycle in by the end of the year. I would just have to get egg transfer in by 12/31. It should be easy to do because I have regular cycles and an antagonist cycle you don't suppress.
So, that's about it. Everything else is going OK. My job blows and they let a ton of people go and I have triple the workload...but I am dealing with it.
And as a last thought, if anyone can keep your eyes out for relatives/friends, etc., that have leftover gonal f, follistim, lupron, menopur, repronex, ganirelix, or ovidrel...I would appreciate it!

I wish I had something to donate to you. I know how expensive the drugs can be. I will totally be wishing you the best. I have always found you a helpful tell it like it is person. I know you are a strong lady and I admire you for staying strong for all the time you have been TTC. If anything I wish you would post more.
