so i did a very stupid thing about 4-5 weeks ago. i stopped breastfeeding...actually breast pumping. anaya never latched on because she got used to the bottle and feeding her then pumping along wit becoming a new mommy was too much stress for me to handle so i stopped. ever since ive felt horrible and guilty. my guilt has been even worse cause of what ive been putting my sweet innocent little girl through. shes been on 4 different kinds of formula (neosure, regular enfaimil, the gentlease, and now the added rice for her reflux). now shes constantly constipated from the formula with rice which i hate to give her because shes too young for solids and she has to ge****er and apple juice just to poo and i think shes too young for that too. all of this prob couldve been avoided if i continued to give her my natural milk.

BUT instead of complaining i am doing something about it. as of last week monday i started relactaing. basically i am demanding my body reproduce its milk. since anaya is still under 3 months i was told by an lc and my local lll instructor i could def get it back with determination. so ive been latching anaya onto the boob as much as she will allow (basically ive become her binky) and when i have time ill pump for 10 min although thats not often. no supplements...yet nada. and guess what. i just pumped for 10 min then maually tried to express and I GOT MILK. not much just litterally a few beads and not even enough to roll together to make a solid drop but its a start and the first step. now on monday im going to the dr to ask for reglan to boost my supply (hopefully she will prescribe it) and im going to get some fengreek tablets and start eating a bowl of oatmeal almost everyday. i am soooo excited to be getting ANYTHING in just a week of efforts when i was told it would be weeks because i was completely dried up. now if only my supply would build this fast i should be set by the beginning of july.

if any of you ladies have questions about this just ask cause i know a few ladies had questioned this. and its never too late to try.
Simone

Did you try Enfamil Nutramigin? That was the only formula my daughter could tolerate. But that is great that you can get a fresh start with BF'ing.

My pedi said if your LO is going to have reflux they are going to have it regardless whether you BF or FF.  I went through the same thing but didn't try to relactate since I was told that BF or FF babies have reflux.  Your LO could have a milk protein allergy....we ended up using Similac Alimentium for Matthew's reflux along with rice cereal.

EBF infants RARELY suffer from reflux (and those who do usually have some kind of allergy that needs to be addressed in mothers diet, which is pretty rare).

Thanks but I dont thhink thats Anayas case. She would spit up a teeny bit but it was nothing compared to now. She has to live in a bib now and I go through about 30 every week and a half. Before I used one bib a day. I was told her reflux wont be as bad with breast milk because its easier digested.

It is true your lo still may have reflux issues with breastmilk, but I thinkit is great that you trying again because you never know. And it should definately help with the constipation. Wisheg you all the  , best. kup
