OT: I Must Be Crazy.....

OK ladies,

I had complications from RNY and had to go on retirment disability.  I have submitted several times, especially since I became pregnant, for a workout option to my mortgage company.  They have sent several contradictory letters about why they won't re-do my loan.  As it stands, it is way too much for me to afford especially with a little one coming along.

So fast forward to today......I was at a dr's appointment in a town about 30 minutes away.  I saw a for rent sign on a cute little townhouse.  I called the realtor and he showed it to me.  It is cute and in great condition.  I can save almost $300 on rent/mortgage and about $150 on gas because I would be in the town where my doctors are.  I told him I would let him know, but I am truly thinking about taking it.  He said the neighborhood was good and quiet.  The neighbors to the right are a young professional couple and in the next unit over they are graduate students.

The only drawback.....my family is the town that I currently reside in.........they might be the only help I have with the baby.  But my mom said that they would figure it out....maybe she could come and stay with me for the first couple of week....

Any advice??  The $450 would really do a lot for the financial situation

THANKS!

Sounds like a good deal to me! 30 minutes isn't too far for your family to travel to help you, that's how far most of  mine are coming. My Mom is only about 15 minutes but she usually comes after work and that's a 45 minute drive to my house.

Good luck with it!

Thanks, Liz......I thought so, too.  You always respond and with such level headedness.....

How is the baby??  She is soooo cute!!

Hugs!!

I think it sounds good. You don't want to be stressed with money issues and that sounds like it's a huge savings. How far away is your family? With my first baby, my family was an hour away and it was really hard cause they couldn't just come over anytime, this time we live 20-30 minutes away so it's so nice. That to me sounds like the only issue. So it depends on how far away your family is.

I think it sounds like a good financial decision.  30 minutes is not that far for your family to travel.  Heck, it take me 30 minutes to get to Costco which is only about 10 miles away becasuse of traffic.

Good Luck!
