Update on me
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick update. Thank you for all the responses to my baby blues post.
I just got out of the hospital today. Sunday my husband insisted I go to the ER for my headache. I got there and my BP was 189/115. They sent the anesthesiologist up to see me and he didn't think it was a spinal headache, but said he would do a blood patch if I wanted. I was desperate and said let's try it. Well, it didn't work. Then my BP kept creeping up. They sent me back to the ER, medicated my headache, didn't last long... BP was up, so they transferred me to a different hospital that took my insurance for admissions. They admitted me sunday night and the whole time I was there, my BP was elevated. They have me on 3 different meds for BP and 3 for headaches. Still no answers as to why my BP is all of a sudden sky high. I saw a neurologist, an OB, the PCP, and had a CT scan, chest xray, EKG, MRI, blood work, urine work. The tests were all fine. The only thing is that I am anemic (which I have been, even before bypass) and my blood count was low. It was at and 8.4... and if it went below and 8 they would have done a transfusion. But I just had a c-section 14 days ago. So my blood count could still be low.
Still no reason as to WHY I went from normal BP to high BP. I haven't had high BP since before I had WLS. After WLS, within 3 months, it was gone. So they are hoping it is just temporary and maybe something to do with my postpartum adjustment period. I don't have post partum preeclampsia (yes, I didn't know this was possible either) because my liver function is fine and there was no protein in my urine.
I am glad to be home with my family. My little pumpkin weighed in at 8lbs 12oz on monday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to breastfeed on these meds. That makes me sad. She has been doing OK on formula... but I think it is a lot harder on her tummy. I wanted to at least give her 2 BM bottles a day to help 'grease the wheels' of digestion. Now, I won't be able to. =( I am sure she will do fine... just makes me a bit sad. My husband missed me like crazy... he won't take me for granted ever. LOL Being a single dad to 6 kids is rough. Thankfully, we had some friends here to help a couple of times. They took the girls on Sunday when he took me to the hospital and the next day so he could bring the baby up to see me. Our other friend took the little one yesterday so DH could go and get his stress relieved at his softball game. =) Sydnee missed me, too. I missed her lots. She was so cute on the phone with me. The older kids were a big help, too. Although.. I hope they behave themselves, because I need things to be stressfree.
The baby blues are pretty much gone. I think with me not feeling good and my BP (which I had no idea was high) it probably compounded with my hormones. Either that or I am just so thankful to be home that I can't be anything other than happy.
Hugs to all

What the heck, girl?!?! This is pure craziness. It's so frustrating when something is wrong and no one can figure out what it is! I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Sorry about the BFing too. Formula babies grow up just fine, though, and I'm sure she will adjust to it quickly. I hope you continue to get better every day, and that something works for you!

I'm glad you're home and hope your body gets back to normally quickly. And thank God Jer made you go to the hospital. Your blood pressure - damn...I didn't know it could go that high!
Keep taking your meds, get your rest...and though I understand about the BF...obviously you being in good health is more important. If you kept pumping/dumping until things are back to normal, do you think she'd go back to BF?
