Abdominal Pain
I'm back ladies......sorry I only seem to get here when I need advice....
My complications from RNY have included severe abdominal pain....all over. Since I have been pregnant, I'm 25 weeks, it comes and goes. (Prior to pregnancy, it was constant). I have felt the hip pain, the side pain from my uterus growing, but I have had some abdominal pain today that feels weird.
I have some pretty painful areas around my belly button......then I am feeling some pain around my tummy. I also have the usual sharp pains around my pouch area.......I hate to call the dr if it's normal.....thought I know I will have to if it isn't gone in the morning
My surgeon and OB don't agree, as you can tell by a previous post, so who do I call??
Anyone else experienced this type of pain?? My BF is supposed to call his sister because she is the most recent person in the family to have a baby....
Thanks ladies!!

when was your last bm? do you you have your gallbladder and appendix? what do you mean tummy? upper, lower, right, left? are you doubled over? It could be ligaments or it could be something else but need more info. it could be rny related or pregnancy related...i will check back for more info!

Luckily for me, I have regular BM......so my last was yesterday. I no longer have my gallbladder, but do have my appendix.
The pain is in the middle......the exact middle. Like it hurts around my belly button and all the way out to my sides. I'm not doubled over, but this morning I had a little pain in my upper abdomen toward my chest. I checked my BP and it was 115/69.
I hate being a Nervous Nelly, but I have miscarried once and with my age (I am 38) and health issues I get concerned with ever pain and new symptom.
Thanks for checking back in!

I was on Protonix when I got pregnant. They took me off the Protonix after they found out I was pregnant.........not sure why.
I take both Zofran and Phenergan for constant, persistant nausea that has been going on for 3 years, but worse, I'm sure, due to being pregnant.
I never thought about a hernia........I think a trip to ER is in my future. I truly don't think this pain is pregnancy related.
Thanks for the help!!

You are not alone!
I spent Friday morning at L & D (even though I knew it wasn't labor I was feeling...the doc office told me to go there and get checked anyway)
I have not had constant stomach pain from my open gastric bypass, nearly 3 and 1/2 years ago. I did not even need the pain meds at home afterwards but used it at night for a few days just to help me sleep because I hate sleeping on my back.
A couple weeks ago I had some sharp pain in my upper stomach (above belly button right below ribcage) that I attrituted to eating popcorn too fast. The pain went away in like 15 minutes.
I no longer have my gall bladder either BTW...So Thursday evening the baby was kind of in a weird position...was back outwards...I could feel his head and butt and like he was pushing out but did not hurt. But as I was waking to rollover (that is effort these days LOL) at about 5 aM Friday I hurt. Got up to go to the bathroom and could barely stand up straight. My upper stomach hurt all over. I knew it was not labor but it hurt badly. I got in the shower and then laid back down thinking it would go away but nope! Finally called the doctor and was told to go to L & D. After a few hours there the pain finally eased off and went away.
The conclusion...the baby must have been pushing up against scar tissue and scar tissue was pulling and causing the upper ab pain. The bad news...as the baby gets bigger this pain may happen more frequently!
Not sure if this helps you any. Or, if you had open RNY or laproscopic...GOOD luck!

it doesnt sound like its baby related unless like a pp said its scar tissue and as baby grows it causes discomfort. typically if its your appendix you would be doubled over but you can always get it checked out....how far along are you? hopefully its something minor! also i think someone else mentioned a hernia that could be very true...did you have open rny? I have a small hernia by my belly button. that causes me some pain sometimes.

I will be 26 weeks tomorrow......I think I am calling the doctor. She is moving, so I am pretty sure she is OK, but the pain has gotten a little worse. I think I call them every week......and I am starting to feel bad about it. But I just want to deliver a healthy baby....
Thanks everyone for everything!
