IVF??
I know that I just had surgery in march and I am not looking to start having babies right now. But I want to know if any one has done IVF after weight loss surgery? I know this is how I will have to conceive a child but it is so expensive... I have alot of people having babies in my family and I almost cant wait to get pregnant. I know that since I have had surgery and lost some weight my whole cycle has become normal... Before i was totally out of wack...
Just want to hear from any with that went through IVF or other procedures to get pregnant...

You don't have to go into detail, but is there a medical reason you know you have to do IVF? 99% of the women who go through weight loss surgery/devices do not and the weight loss helps their fertility and quickly.
I am not that lucky. I am in the 1 %. My periods were regular even before the surgery. I didn't even try to get pregnant until 18 months to the day after surgery -- my wedding day. But, alas, it is not in the cards. I have had 4 losses. I have had multiple IUIs. I have had a lap done, every test in the book...and there is nothing wrong with me. My husband has poor morph, but his counts are high enough that this should not be what is holding us up.
At any rate, I got good news this week. My husband's insurance (which I am on), just changed to a $10,000 lifetime fertility treatment. It doesn't count my past procedures, and does cover IVF, so now we can afford at least one round of IVF. We are fortunate. I am not sure when we are going to do it -- either soon or first thing next year when we can put our portion in flex spend...
There have been a few women on here that have done IVF in the past 3 years or so. But, they are few in number.
Good luck!

I had IVF/ICSI for both of my pregnancies. The first time, we conceived twins, the second time a singleton.
Our issue was MF. Also, insurance (we have BCBS) covered pretty much everything with the exception of the actual procedure. So our total OOP expenses were about $5500 the first time and maybe $2000 less the second time because the second cycle was a frozen one.
Feel free to ask me any questions.

Kristi, you don't mention your age or if that's a factor. If you are less than 34 your GYN might want to work with you first. If it's a donor situation your best bet would be for you and your partner (if male) to have a complete going over by a Reproductive Endocrinologist, and preferably one that understands the hormonal aspects of WLS. Getting in to see a good RE might take 6-8 weeks. Sometimes their tests revolve around your cycles and once started on clomid or other treatments, it takes alot more time than you expect. They want to see records for 2 or 3 cycles, do ultrasounds and bloodtests on certain days, you may get tests on your tubes, if you find issues there, then there's surgery and recovery from that. For me, all that took almost 6 mos. before we had all the data and a plan of attack. Had I known that, I would have started that prep work earlier while I was losing my weight as I was 42.5 before my first IUI happened, and alas, it was too late. Just like RNY, lotsa legwork first.

This has been on my mind a lot because a lot of friends and family and having babies and it is making me want one of my own. I am soon to be married we are looking for a house now... I know that I dont want to have a child right now but we were talking about children (BTW my fiance is a women) we were thinking and I just wasnt sure what the process was or really anything about it.
