Well one of your main reasons you keep losing is because your very early out from your surgery. I guess that is why they suggest waiting 12-18 months before starting to ttc that way your weight has stabilized and your out of the rapid weight loss phase.
I got pregnant at 15 months postop and I lost in the beginning. But, I was told to drink protein shakes, carnation instant breakfast, ensures and boost to help gain weight. But, I still only gained 2 lbs. As long as the baby is measuring good I wouldn't be that concerned because you are very early out. I'm sure that once you get farther along you'll start to gain.

I was exactly the same way ! At my 12 wk appt. I had lost 6 pounds throughout that previous month. My OB was very concerned. I was only 4 months post-op when I found that I was pregnant, but I had met my goal weight @ 5 months post-op. They said, if I was still over weight, It would be okay to keep losing, but since I was @ a normal weight I could not lose anymore. They did an ultrasound & baby measured exactly 12 wks. They told me to try & drink Ensure or Boost. I tried a few times, but it sits sooo heavy on my stomach that I usually end up throwing up. So, it kinda defeats the purpose. I feel like I eat all the time, but I'm still not gaining. I know baby is getting everything it needs, but I am still malnourished. If you find anything that works, please let me know !!! Just wanted to share my story because it sounds like we are on a very similar journey : ) I wish you & baby the very best of luck !!!

I was the same way...I lost a lot during the first trimester, maintained the second, and am gaining (very little) the third. My entire pregnancy to date I have gained 10lbs. (I think its a blessing in disguise!!)
Just remember baby is going to get whatever s/he needs....just stay up on everything and do what you can, dont over eat.....just eat more frequently...and keep up with your fluids....I CANT STRESS THAT ENOUGH!!!
God Bless and Congrats on ur LO!

Expect it to happen and to continue. Your body is doing what you have altered it to do. Continue to eat how you are eating now, high calorie, lots of carbs, try ensure and boost, ice cream shakes, whatever is necessary, oh and dont skimp on your vitamins. But to warn you it will probably not stop...maybe stabilize...but do NOT expect to gain. I got pregnant 4 months post-op and I lost about 35lbs throughout my pregnany (200 at first appt 163 the day i delivered), never gained a pound. I finally stopped losing and held around 165 from my 7th month till I delivered. So try not to stress.

It is typical to keep losing even while you are pregnant because you were such an early post-op. As long as you are eating healthy for you and your baby - and taking your supplements you need not worry. The bottom line is that your baby will get what he/she needs even if it is sucked out of your body so you would be at a loss, not your baby.
All the best to you. There are many woman here who have conceived early post-op and have had good outcomes.

I agree with others. Personally I would have a chat with your doctor to help him understand that you losing weight is normal, based on your new altered anatomy. Maybe have him get in contact with your WLS doctor or nutritionist too.
Keep a journal or record of your food to show you are eating what you can.
If inthe end he keeps on you about your weight . . . . find a new doctor that understands pregnancy and WLS patients better.
Good luck!

I am 17 weeks tomorrow. I have lost 28 lb since finding out that I was pregnant. My doctor was not happy with me this week since I lost 3 lb more this month. He wants me to start gaining or stay at the same weight. I am trying to do that but it is hard. I was only 7 months out when I found out that I was pregnant. I understand where you are coming from.
