I can't gain weight
I am 16 weeks and 5 days along. I went to my Ob yesterday and I lost another 3 lb in one month. Which my OB was not happy with me. I am eating every two hours and still cant stay the same or gain. I have lost 28 lb since finding out that I was pregnant. I got pregnant 7 months out from surgery. I know that is early but I was told by my ob I would not have anymore kids. I went through three years of infertility. I do have two boys ages are 6 years and 4 years. I just found out on Saturday we are having a little girl. I am just worried that the baby is not going to get enough since I am still losing. Can anyone help me out with this???
I got pregnant at 9 months post op. Now that 2 months does make a BIG difference, but I was having the same problem at first...(up until about 22 weeks or so...give or take)
Just do what you can, remember the important stuff! The baby will always get what she needs first...even if YOU suffer. So just keep up on your liquids, try to get at least 1800 calories...and be patient. My entire pregnancy I have gained 10 lbs. And believe it or not....90% of it is baby. (if not more)
Good luck, and Yay!! Your having a little girl!!

I got pregnant the same time you did. I lost 22 pounds in the first trimester, held in the second and most of the third and ended up with a gain of 12 pounds in the end. As long as your labs and blood sugars are fine you don't have to worry about it. Your body is designed to give baby what it needs first and you second. Your baby is getting what it needs. You on the other hand aren't. This is temporary so it's really not a big deal. it freaks out the OBs b/c wls patients defy their norms. Just have them watch your labs, urine, and blood sugar and you'll do fine. Baby only needs like 300 calories... you are getting that much. :)
You'll do great! Remember stress is bad for baby.

I got pregnant 6mo post-op and I continued to lose until I was about 12-14 weeks. I lost an additional 17lbs from when I got pregnant.
I gained a little bit of weight and then maintained for the whole 2nd trimester.
This thrid trimester I've gained a little bit more but have maintained and now that I am nearing the end of the pregnancy I've found it more difficult to eat and get enough food and sometimes liquids in and have seen a slip in my weight in the opposite direction again. Not by a whole lot but I seriously expected a tad more weight gain than this. I'm back to maintaining and I am not liking it because I can barely get enough calories and fat in.
I'm considering getting a high calorie, protein, fat supplement from GNC so I can mix it in a shake/smoothie so I can drink it instead of eat it, since I can drink easier than eat right now. I just don't know if I can swallow the cost since I priced stuff out today and it would cost about $50 for the one mix and $30 for the mix of powdered vitamins. yikes!!
Still, at 500 calories a scoop, she said, it could very well be worth it to me and baby health wise. I can make a smoothie with some frozen fruit, maybe even some greek yogurt or plain yogurt and ice.
I thankfully don't have the malabsobtion issues, so I can't imagine how much more weight I'd be losing if I did, right now.
But that is what I thik I'll be doing this last month or pregnancy. If I had known I needed this stuff I think I would have started it sooner. I normally have babies weighing 7#10oz all the way up to 10#9oz but I am seriously expecting this baby to be my smallest baby yet. :-/
I'm thinking I may need to extend the high calorie smoothies after birth so I can boost my milk supply. I'm afraid I won't be eating or drinking enough to keep my milk supply up.

Thank you Ladies. My doctor does not do labs on me. He has only did it once. I am going to talk with my Gastric by pass doctor about doing labs on me. I know that I will stop losing but it is just when it is going to happen. I am eating more now then I have. My doctor told me that I will take before the baby gets anything. I think he is full of it. I heard that the baby always takes before you do. I know the baby is growing since she is measuring one week ahead of her self. My husband tells me that everything is going to be okay. My son were 10 lb each at birth. I think she might be smaller since I have the surgery. Thank you again!!!
