Sleeping on your back and other issues..
I asked my dr yesterday if I really can't sleep on my back, because that's my favorite position. He said I can sleep any way that's comfortable. He says I've been reading too much!! (the last thing I asked him about was drinking tap water)
He said my body will let me know if I do something bad for the baby. He said outside of drugs and alcohol, there isn't much we can do to hurt the baby. He said there are tons of babies born every day in third world countries and to teenagers (anywhere) that are born fine. He said think of all the marks they should have against a healthy baby. Good point...I hadn't looked at it that way before. Makes me feel better.
Now, I just have to be patient and wait until my appt on June 25th to find out if we are buying pink or blue goodies!!! Oh, the waiting is the hardest part...

I tried to sleep on my side because I heard sleeping on your back cuts off blood flow... but it really hurt my hips...I would wake up in horrible pain. (even though I used plenty of pillows and made sure everything was supported!) So I finally told my doctor what was going on and she said sleep however you can sleep you body will let you know if you are in an unhealthy position. I am almost 30 weeks and have been sleeping happily ever after on my back every since!

LOL to reading too much.. I think we're all a big guilty of doing that! I find myself turning like a rotisserie all night long except I never get to my favourite sleeping position - my tummy :( I sooooooooo miss sleeping on my tummy.. sleeping on back and sides has been okay for the most part except lately - I get sore shoulder caps and have had a wee bit of rib pain on my right side when laying on left - feels like its overstretched...
Your doc made a good point about babies being born in all kinds of conditions... I never thought about it that way either...
I read that too, so I tried not to sleep on my side since the beginning of my pregnancy.
Well, at about 10-12 weeks along, I read something that said that it's okay to sleep on your bac****il your body tells you that it's not. And trust me, your body will tell you if that's the case! (mine sure did, I cannot sleep on my back for longer than 10-15 minutes = OUCH! My legs start to fall asleep, my back aches (from the weight of the baby laying right on my spinal cord) and I start to feel short of breath (while lying down!). When I end up on my back, I seriously wake up from a deep sleep, just to turn over onto one of my sides. That all began for me at about 26 weeks along.
