6 week post partum checkup.
so I delivered on 4/15. I went to see my ob dr for my 6 week checkup. I'm still bleeding and the dr said that my uterus is still big. Dr said it should be back to normal size by now and so Dr wants me to get an ultrasound.......anyone ever heard of this before? or know why this would be happening?

Did they give you pitocin after the delivery? Did / are you breastfeeding?
I lost a lot of blood during delivery and they pumped me full of pitocin then with breastfeeding I kept getting uterine contractions. I am 5 days post partum and my uterus is a few inches below my belly button and the bleeding is like mabye the 2nd to last day of your period - it's there but not bad. Now if i could get the stitches to stop hurting we'd be all set!

Liz- I totally hear you on the stitches thing! I am in sooo much pain from those suckers!
Back to the original post- I think the Dr. wants to check to make sure part of your placenta didn't remain, which can happen and cause a lot of bleeding. Probably also wants to check for the usual things, like polyps or other types of growths that can happen, pregnancy or not. Goot luck with the ultrasound!
