Two Hours in Labor and Delivery.....no answer

Today I spent two hours in labor and delivery, but still not sure what happened.........

I am 25 weeks, and hadn't felt the baby since Friday late afternoon.  The last time this happened, the dr. on call told me that it wasn't abnormal not to feel the baby this early in my pregnancy (I was about 20 weeks along then)  That is why I waited until today, so that I could call my OB.

Then over the past weekend, I have become very short of breath.  I am a severe asthmatic, but the attacks are different than asthma attacks.  I have trouble explaining it.......I kind of feel like I am suffocating.

So, when the nurse called back she told me to go to the ER and then labor and delivery.  When I got to L&D, the nurse that checked me in told me that they were swamped and the OB should've had me come into his office since I wasn't bleeding or in pain.

To make a long story short, everything looked great with the baby on the monitor and they don't have an explanation as to why I am not feeling her (the dr said I should be at least a coupld times a day) or why I am short of breath.

I see my OB on Thursday for my regular appointmen, but does anyone have any idea what it might be???  The drs in L&D didn't seem concerned, but the short of breath episodes are kind of scary......

Thanks!

I don't have any idea what's going on...but would recommend following up w/your ob and/or your PCP to see if they can find out what's up.  It doesn't sound normal to me...and it could be something as simple as the position of the baby (though I wouldn't think 25 weeks would be enough to start crowding your lungs?)...but if it worries you, ask about it.

Re feeling the baby move...could the problems with not feeling the baby move be because of the position of the placenta?

My OB said shortness of breath is north. Obviously if you are hyperventilating or something it is not ok. She said a pregnant person sitting is like a normal person walking. A pregnant person walking is like a normal person running. She said the additional blood flow and being pregnant puts a huge cardiac load on our bodies. She said that I have to drink a lot, each every two hours health small meals, and etc. She said that keeping blood sugar normal, staying hydrated, and resting will all help the extra cardiac load on our bodies.

Make sure and talk to your OB about your concerns.
