I had my first ulrasound after I found out I was pregnant, I was 7 weeks.
At that time I saw 1 fetus. ( At the hospital )

I am now 13 weeks, when I was 12 weeks I saw the midwife, and she did the heartbeat doppler. She had to keep moving it from one side to the other, quickly...strong heartbeat, but she asked if I was having twins..... I don't know???? This was my first prenantal appointment.(As my insurance took me forever to find a new OB/GYN, since my prevoius OB Dr. dropped me cause I had the GBS, and I was now considered high risk, so it took awhile to get a referal to a new Dr.)

She also said my belly looked quite large for being 3 months, and I hadn't gained a single pound either...
everyone that sees me thinks I am further than I am, or I am having more than one baby.

Can you be be having twins, eventhough at 7 weeks you only saw one little figure?

Pictures are on my profile of my belly

My friend said she went in and "saw" one baby at 7 weeks but went in at 12 and the second one moved and could be seen. I know someone at work who says her friend was 8 month preggo before they found the second baby. All of a sudden, her one baby had three feet.

Also, your old OB is a jerk. Yes, you can be "high risk" but it's not that big of a deal. For me it consists of getting monthly growth ultrasounds and that's it. My reg OBs are not concerned about the WLS. The high risk OB just wants to see me to make sure the baby is growing good.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I think it all depends on how thorough the Ultrasound is. During my first pregnancy,  I had an ultrasound @ 5 wks & they saw one fetal pole & yolk sac. Then, @ 7 wks, we saw 2 little babies & two heart beats. So, 1 baby can be missed, especially early on.

It is most definitely possible!  My friend is currently pregnant with twins and had an ultrasound at 4 weeks and at 7 weeks and they didn't see two.  She then had one about ten weeks and there were and still are two!
