hello everyone!!... im up for a shift change... i have 5 choices ... im currently on midnights and counting down the days until i can get off .. 40 days!... my choices are days (7a-3p) or afternoons (3p-11p)...

there are pros and cons for each

7a-3p
pros- eat dinner with family and tuck babies into bed..still have time in the afternoon to hang out and play with kids... visit with family... go to bday parties with them on the weekends.. live a more "normal" life..more overtime

cons-kids would be with a sitter for 8.5 hrs a day for 3 days a week.. i would have to get up before the roosters..more brass around... work with old cranky people

3p-11p
pros- wake up and eat breakfast with kids...they would only be with a sitter for no more then 15 hrs a week..busy shift so time goes fast... less admin after 5... i wouldnt have to leave the house until 2 pm

cons-supervisors suck and make me want to fight them.. babies will already be in bed by the time i get home at 1130pm

im really leaning towards days... i think it will be better for everyone....

I would vote for days but mostly because I am a morning person. I wouldn't be happy being at wor****il 11. Kids being with a sitter that long is a "con" but "normal" these days. It will be nice to have dinner as a family too I'm sure.

Good luck

My choice would be days. Just because you can spend most of the afternoon with them and be able to tuck them in at night. And like you said, it's moreof a 'normal' schedule.

Well, Days sounds like the better option for you, although I'm not sure if there are financial considerations regarding that much daycare. For me that would be a big thing to factor in. If you work the later shift and you dislike the supervisors I wouldn't do it, since you already know you don't get along with them. That makes wanting to be at work really hard. I like being home for the nighttime routine, which I feel is important in teaching kids to sleep, etc. But, there are pros to each. Go with your gut instinct.

I would vote days too. It would be more of a normal schedule for the kids, specially when they start school. If you find a good sitter it will be a positive thing, im sure of it! :) Regardless of what you choose, the kids will adapt, and it WILL be their 'normal' :)

Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!

Im going with days...I have worked both shifts and while all the mgmt is around for that 7-3 and you do have to get up at the crack of dawn....you get to snuggle the kiddos before bed, and spend more time with them!!

Thats more than worth it!

I would vote days - believe me, you won't be sleeping in for a looong time to come. Working til 11 and then be awakened really early would kind of suck. And really, 3 days a week with a sitter isn't bad at all! Plus, I love being able to put Rowan to bed at night!

I vote for days.  I used to work evening shift (before kids).  I hated it.  I felt like I didn't have any life.  I know your babies are little, but if they were older and in school you wouldn't get to see them at all working 3-11.   I felt like everyone I knew was at work before I went to work and in bed when I got home.  I actually had an uncle pass away while I was on that shift and no one thought to tell me until a few days had passed.   I was way out of the loop.

Sorry for the ramble.  I can't imagine being on evenings now since I have kids.  Obviously, if that's the only shift I could work, I would, but I wouldn't volunteer for it.
