Getting Nervous
I think it's just because I am home a lone and left to my own devices but I am getting nervous. I keep thinking about what the OB said yesterday about me being out of control with pain, that's what is "Normal" and when I should call back. I know that I am going to be in pain and that has worried me since day 1 - I also know that I can do it as it's what my body was made to do. It's just a horrible case of the "what -if's"
I am trying to keep myself busy - cooking, washing clothes, cleaning up hand-me-down baby stuff, wandering aroung the yard etc. I am getting ready now to go for a walk to see if we can move things along. I am still getting contractions about 10-14 minutes apart lasting 35-45 seconds. Some of the pains are getting stronger but for the most part things are barely uncomfortable. I know that this can go on for days even weeks which was news to me! I thought once you were 3cm and 80% effaced and having contractions things would move along quickly. I am having a lot of the "early labor" signs, diarreah, lost my plug etc.
I know I am just rambling so if you made it this far thanks for reading - I am sure that I am not the only one who has felt this way as a first time Mommy-to-be.
OK off to keep myself busy!

I know exactly how you feel! Its especially hard on your due date and you just can't seem to progress. The day after my due date I DTD with hubby, immediately laid down and took a nap. I woke up in active labor a few hours later. I had also been in the early stages of labor for a few days. I wish you the best of luck and like everyone else I can't wait to find out if its a boy or girl!
liz.... if your in pain say something... you dont have to try to be a hero .. ive done it twice with no epi and its not fun... but your right.. you CAN!!!! do it... think of other things ( your ultimate goal count.. breath... walk... getting on your knees helps ( think doggie style)... i cant wait to see your baby!
You are doing great!! For me, once I got to 4cm, I was able to get the epidural. You are almost there and still at home. Once you head to the hospital, you shouldn't have a long wait for pain relief. If you decide to go for the epidural, let them know right away so they can put in the orders for it to help speed up the process.
I guess a pro of an induction and a stubborn baby is missing out on this phase :o) Keep up the great work! You are so close to the end and you should be holding your baby by the end of the weekend. My apologies for jinxing you and hoping you would be able to meet you LO the other day :o)

Liz, just to let you know labor is not always as bad as they say. As everything else we are all different. With that said pay attention to how close they get. That was number one sign for me and not that it hurt that bad. When I was two mins apart I headed to hospital. I sure hope it is as easy for you as it was me. Good sign is your already past first three. I got epidural around 5/6 and had a breeze delivery. I am a big you don't have to suffer. Can't wait to hear your story! Stacey

Hey liz- funny that we're in the exact same boat! I've been forcing myself to do things today too. I woke up at 4:00 am and had all this energy- of course I didn't want to wake everyone up, so I took a long shower, and was able to fall back to sleep after eating around 6:30 until my daughter woke up, which was nice. My contractions aren't regular at all yet. I just stopped in again after going grocery shopping and getting a few last minute things for me. I am heading back out to walk, walk, walk. Unfortunately it is rainy here today, so I can't do a lot outside, so I have to hit the stores- Darn it! I always find something I don't need. LOL. Well, good luck to you too! I am worried about heading in at the right time too. We'll see which one of us goes first!

I was induced for my labor so I can't really comment on staying at home part, but I know the beginning contractions were just like bad menstrual cramps, then pretty soon they hit harder to where you didn't want to talk during the contractions, it was like I wanted everyone to shut up, and I was breathing. I say, when the pain gets to that point, that is when you need to call or go in.
Thanks ladies. They go back and forth - today it's been less and less painful for the most part then all of a sudden - WHAMMY a strong one hits. I did go for a few long walks today (about a mile each) but it is 85 and humid so I am uncomfortable. As I am walking I felt like my skin was shrinking! lol No one wants me to drive so I am trying not to. If I still feel like this tomorrow I am so going out!
