Edema in My stomach... Anyone have this before?

So I have a nurse coming to my home once a week to check on myself and the boys... She was here yesterday and she is worried cuz my right foot and calve is swollen still but my left side is fine... I had her look at my stomach around belly button area and I have edema there as well... I mentioned while pregnant still that my stomach was swollen there and it hurt... well I have fluid there still after the babies... I am researching this online and I am making myself worried... I must have 20lbs of fluid in my belly area... I was gonna call my PCP but idk if they will give me a run around until I am at least 6 weeks post delivery... I am really worried...

I can't see your picture, but I also had edema in my abdomen and was warned by my OB not to freak out because it's normal. He had to cut me in a really weird spot because I had a panni done a couple years ago, so it was swollen in a weird spot, but still normal. It took about 6 weeks for it to go down.

ok thanks... cuz I have my section above my belly button so I figured it was ok for a while still...it's only been 2 weeks so I will give it time and still watch my sodium intake and drink lots of water which I have been doing...

I remember my belly being very squishy and floppy for awhile but I don't remember the edema in my belly. I had EXTREME edema in my ankles and feet though and they thought I might have had a blood clot, but I didn't, it finally just went down. But literally they feet were so swollen I had to buy slipper and cut them so my foot would fit in and then tape them on my feet so I could go out with shoes. It was insane! But my advise would be to check your incision site to make sure it doesn't look infected and if you're running a fever, get to the doctor or ER soon, you don't want to let an infection go. Otherwise, it may just be normal stuff.

see no infection my incision is healing really nicely...below my belly button and on the sides of it... it's hard as a rock and u can see my pours and if u touch it your finger intents into it as if you had a swollen foot and did that... my right foot is bad i have to wear flip flops and even thats not comfy...

I had extreme edema in my during the end of both pg's and after delivery. So much so that my incisions both re opened. If you have had a c section, be super careful. I mean literally rolling over in bed busted mine open. The edema went away but it took a good 6-8 weeks. Good luck. Shari

oh thanks so much... I had a section above my belly button due to my extra skin in the tummy area... and it's healing nicely but I know what you mean about moving wrong cuzI have the edema right in that area...

I had edema really bad after my daughter- It went to my boobs though and cut off my milk supply and even did some tissue damage! It was soooo painful. I'm sorry you are dealing with edema anywhere! Hopefully it won't take too long to clear up. It's funny where the body decides to retain water! I would have never thought of that happening in my chest area, but it did! This time around I've only just started swelling, and it's nothing like last time, so I'm hopeful that it won't be so bad, plus I've lost 125 lbs since then, so I think that helps. Hopefully it won't cause any other complications!

With both of my c-sections I had edema in my lower belly area pretty badly.  It seemed that the fluid collected in the lower part of my stomach that hung over.  It was pretty awful actually and the Doctor was no help whatsoever.  Apparently all of the fluid they pump into you during the c-section doesn't help the situation.  Mine was hard and discolored and pitted (meaning if I pressed on it, it wouldn't bounce back).  It took months and months, but it eventually did get better.  

Sorry I couldn't be more reassuring, but at least you know you aren't alone.  If the area becomes red or inflammed and sore I would definitely have it checked out though because you could get an infection in the tissue and that's no fun.
