Hi girls.  Ok, I have a question. I got pregnant 10 months out from RNY. I am currently 34.5 weeks pregnant with a somewhat smooth pregnancy.  I've only gained 10 pounds, so not to bad. I am concerned, though.  I have kinda let myself go this pregnancy.  No ones fault but my own.  I know up until i was about 20 weeks I wasnt really gaining weight, and I kept telling myself that my baby isnt grown unless im putting on the weight.  I very rarely dump now, which is BAD .  How have some of you guys got your self back on track post baby.  I am determined mentaly that once I have her (scheduled c-section) i am going back to fresh post-op diet.  Im also scared taht ive stretched my pouch. I know I am 16 months post op and will be able to eat more, but im not sure how much more.  I need some advice.  Like, what have yall done after the baby to lose the weight, and how did you get back on track.  I appreciate it!!
God never promised it would be easy, but he did promise it would be worth it.

10 pounds is perfectly normal for your pregnancy.  If you'd said you were only 2 months and gained 10 pounds, then yeah, you might be concerned.  It's NORMAL to gain weight when you're pregnant.  Quit beating your self up about it and enjoy your little miracle.  I can't answer from experience re losing weight after the baby gets here, but knowing that you only gained 10 pounds, I'd say that it'll come off quickly, and then some.

Be sure after the baby's here to keep you protein up while you're healing...and if you're boing to breastfeed ensure you're getting enough calories to sustain you and the baby.  Talk to your dr - and possibly your surgeon or nut to find out what's best for you and baby.

Good luck.

Hi Jackie,

It sounds to me like you are doing fabulous...the only suggestion I would have would be to start slamming protein constantly.  Protein promotes healing, and can REALLY make a big difference in the amount of time it takes you to heal.  When I hae my first WLS 10/04, I did not listen ane did not up my protein...when I had to have my revision due to the inability to stop losing weight in January of  2009 (weight was 82 pounds)...I slammed as much protein down as possible prior to surgery.  I can attest, for myself anyway, that there was a night and day difference in recovery time,  So, just  a thought, and congrats on your new little one...not much longer low...just a few more weeks :)

According to my OBGYN, she had post RNY patients who lost weight during pregnancy and still had a healthy baby. What happens is the baby takes what he/she needs from the food you are eating, so if you are eating less but excercising, there is less left for you.

Right now, I am training to walk a 5K at the end of June, so I walk/run 3 days a week. Hopefully, that'll keep me from gaining too much. I have a goal of no more than 20 lbs and immediately after I am cleared, I am going back to my running schedule. I am paranoid with a capital P about ballooning up to my pre-surgery weight.

Good luck!

Hey there!
I gained 23 pounds with my baby, and I went 42 weeks .. I dropped ALL of it within two weeks post pardum. I think it's because I was really strict with myself while preggo, and shortly thereafter ... protein, salads, whole foods ad nasium ...  Bottom line, really, if you eat healthy and stay active, your body will do exactly what it needs to, whether its ten pounds or thirty ... xoxo
