Totally Gross, but I gotta know.
Ok so, how early do you lose the mucas plug? and what does it look like? I think i have lost a part of it, but am unsure....just had something slimely lookin on the tissue...no blood or pink anything...honestly, it looks like sperm. I know that sounds crazy but...I havent had sex in DAYS and idk what this is, Im wondering if i should call the dr?
I have been having period like cramps in my lower belly, but nothing that feels like the contractions I had when i went into labor at 24 weeks...
Help!! What is this goo??

Well I have been calling it pieces of my mucous plug that I have been loosing for the last 2 weeks (I am almost 40 weeks though) - really it looks like snot - chunks of it - no blood (yet). I was actually considering posting to see if anyone didn't have a "bloody show"
I hope that your baby holds out a while longer! I have heard that the plug can regenerate itself - not sure if that's 100% true or not.
Good luck!

Thanks Liz!!
I really dont think shes gonna stay in there full term. I mean I HOPE she stays as long as she needs to, but god bless her if shes anything like her mother, she is impatient!
I think Im going to call the dr and find out if this is ok. Maybe if anything, he can check me at my next appointment and make sure. Since my RNY made me "high risk" I have to see him every week now....ugh. (I do love the ultrasounds though!!)
Good luck to you sweetie!! Your lil one will be here in NO time!!

About that same point I had an increase in mucous like that- turned out to be just an increase in discharge. Usually the mucous plug has some sort of blood with it, often dried, but if you google it you'll see what it usually looks like- there are a lot of variations to it that you can look at. That's what I did when I thought I was losing it. Just an FYI.

ive been wondering the same thing, im right behind u and have noticed some "goo" that wasnt there before for the last 2 days, ive also read that losing parts of it this early isnt usually a problem and that it will regenerate if need be.
Im ALSO getting the dull period like cramps in the lower belly, i actually went into L&D on friday night and was there for 6 hours being monitored, turns out i have an "irritable uterus" that is pretty much in "spasm" mode constantly.
They said its constantly "contracting" BUT that they arent significant enough and are not causing my cervix to change at all so they cant be called true contractions, however they cannot be called braxton hicks either. LOL im just as confused as the next person on that subject.
In any case they said they cant treat it and im pretty much stuck dealing with it and hoping that it doesnt cause me to go into premature labor ( there is no evidence that having an irritable uterus will or will not cause premature labor) UGH!

You can lose your mucous plug several times over and regrow it. It can had blood with it and it might not, it all depends on your capilaries.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you do actually go into labor. You can be dilated and effaced without a mucous plug for weeks on end and show no signs of labor. BTDT 6 times over.

Often especially at the third trimester anytime I had sex anywhere from 2 to 4 days after I would have muscus come out in a big chuck (sorry tmi) but sounds similar. No blood, no contractions, just mucus. I did ask dr. About when it happened first time where hought it might be something ..she checked but was nothing. Doesn't hurt to ask, but hopefully just those wonderful bodily changes! Good luck, stacey
