Tricare Reserve Select
Anyone have any dealings with this ins? I understand they do not cover IUI's or IVF but they will cover all testing AND pretty much ALL meds even injectables (up to a certain amnt) ONLY with Natural or old as we call it old fashion trying. lol lol I have never done injectables but would like to try for one more child and have an appt with my dr next wed to have yearly and disucss this and would like to have and idea exaclty what I want to try. I don't have any time to waste as I am almost 43. lol lol We had a first child two years ago and since I would out or ins covers the meds figured I would be willing to try a few months to see what happens. Thanks in advance

Usually they start with something like Clomid, as there are increased risks the more advanced the meds. That is usually pretty cheap anyway. I have not ever had to use injectables, as Clomid has always worked for me. The timing of fertilization is really everything. We have had to do clomid with IUI both times, and had relatively quick success. WIth my daughter the third time was the charm. This pregnancy worked the first time and we got twins, so we are done now. If you have the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility I believe they talk about the different types of meds, including injectables, and I'm sure there's a lot on the internet. What is really important is the timing- If they do ultrasounds to detemrine ovulation that is good too, so you don't end up paying for a procedure if it looks like you won't have any viable eggs to fertilize. I would recommend OPK's as well as temping- I liked to combine both methods because I got a really good picture of what was going on. Again, the book Taking Charge of your Fertility is a godsend for this process- I would recommend it. Good luck!

oh thank you so much Carrie for the well wishes! Believe it or not I have read that book of course it was about 10 years ago. I guess I should have given more history on myself. We did about 10 years fertility IUI"S, OPKS, clomid, then femara, metformin the works nothing. I had Gastric bypass in 04 lost 137 lbs and it still took 4 years to get pg. And that was at age 40 well 39. lol lol We just got new ins about a year ago. Tricare Reserve Select and I noticed where they cover all infertility testing and tx other than the actual iui's and ivf. They will cover all drugs as long as you are doing natural cycles. I pretty much know the routine of figureing out when I ov and the ins covers the ultrasounds for that also I just have never used injectables. I figured since I had no luck on clomid (i know i do not want to use that again) I would try 1-2 rounds of the femara again and then hopefully a couple of rounds of injectables. I can get a three month supply on injectables for $9 where as they would usually cost $1000's of dollars. I was hoping someone on here that maybe has done an injectable natural cycle might give me some insight to what to ask for.
Thanks so much! and congrats on your babies!
