Hey everyone! I had my 1st ultrasound yesterday because I was having side cramps that went into my back and my OB is high risk and extremely thorough and he wante dto make sure I didn't have an ectopic pregnancy. GOOD NEWS! Thank God cause I was so nervous. The bbay is growing in my uterus! I got to see my little blob which the ultrasound tech called it my gestational sac. My next ultrasound is on May 27th and I will be around 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant I believe. Will I be able tp possibly hear the baby's heart beat? It will be a transvaginal ultrasound I beleive as it was this last time as well. Will I actually be able to see a form of the baby? Just wondering? Thanks!

I had a piece of rice growing until either 9 or 10. I know when I did my first trimester screening it was definantly a baby. I had one before that and it was looking like a baby. I heard the heartbeat at the screening then last OB appt and then again on Tuesday at my US. Should hear it again on Thursday at the OB.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

You MIGHT be able to see the heartbeat (it looks like a flickering light) but you won't be able to hear it. Now if you can't see it don't worry - many times you can't until 7-8 weeks, remember that this early out even a day makes a HUGE difference. Usualy you can hear the heartbeat around 12-14 weeks. My OB won't even listen for it until about 12 weeks and it can be hard to find. Imagine trying to pick up on something that is oh I dunno - the size of the head of a pin in your belly.

Congrats on the good news!

I didn't have my first appointment until 7 weeks. He did a vaginal ultrasound and we were able to see the heartbeat. So, at your next appointment, you probably won't hear it, but you may see it beating. My 7 week old baby looked like a "blob" to me.

I'm renting a fetal heart doppler so I can listen to the heartbeat at home when I get worried. I was able to hear the heartbeat at 10 weeks with that. At my 12 week appointment, my doctor listened for it too. He probably wondered why we weren't that excited to hear the heartbeat for the first time!! He didn't know we'd already been listening to it for two weeks!! LOL

I'll try to show you the pics from 7 week appt. No promises though...

My husband and I have been trying for a baby for over 9 years.  I had my gastric bypass on 7/6/2009 and we were told to wait for at least a year to try and get pregnant.  We got a little careless, and I started feeling nauseous all the time.  I thought my pouch was giving me fits, so I went to the doctor.  My cycles have never been regular, so it didn't surprise me when my cycle didn't come for a month.  My doctor said it was probably just my hormones going all over the place, but he offered to do a pregnancy test, I was in denial and told him I didn't think that was necessary, so we went home.  I kept feeling awful, and wasn't able to eat anything and keep it down, so my DH told me to take a home test, I told him it would just be a waste of money, but I took it anyway, and to my surprise it was positive!!!!!!!!  The OB couldn't get me in for an entire month, but my appointment was 2 weeks ago, and they told me I was 9 weeks 5 days along.  They did a vaginal ultrasound, not only did we see our sweet little baby, but it was waving it's hand at us, and we heard the heartbeat!!!!!  It was so wonderful!!!!!!!  I am not 12 weeks 2 days and go in on Monday for another ultrasound.  I can't wait to hear the heartbeat and see it again!  Good luck to you!
I've finally started my new journey!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my first ultrasound at 5w6d and all you could see was the sac starting.  I had an ultrasound last Wednesday at 8w0d and you could see the flickering of the heart beat, couldn't hear it though.  I can't remember the first time I heard Libby's heartbeat but I think it was the 2nd trimester??  Not sure though.  This last ultrasound it had a head and looked like a shrimp :)  So cute LOL
