Sylvie,

i'll tell you the BEST of everything...In my opinion of course

Breast PUMP - Medela Advanced Pump In Style (I used it when I went back to work and I was pumping about 72 ounces of breast milk a day. I mean I had to throw away milk as I was getting too much. BEST pump hands down. Definitely the double.

Bottles - DR BROWNS - All day everyday. I had absolutely believe in Dr. Brown. My baby never had a day of gas and I just love them. Cleaning them is a task, but well worth it.

Onesies - I used nothing but CARTERS brand, as they used the best material and they're super soft. Remember the weather and season you'll be giving birth to determine if you need long or short sleeve onesies. But Carters brand is so soft.

Sterilizer - I'll say the Advent electric one sucks big time (hey, but that's just me.) go for the any brand that you can place in the microwave. I had Advent and spent $80.00 on it and I hated using it.

Infant Seats - Peg perego and Britax make some of the safest seats ( a little heavy and pricey, but who cares when safety is key) I like Graco too, but Peg perego and Britax is where it's at.

Strollers - Go for one that will work as a great Travel System as well as a lone stroller. I started out with GRACO DELUXE Full Size stroller and went to the "cadillac" of strollers the Bugaboo. Buy your stroller based on how often you'll use it. Don't spend a lot of money on something you'll rarely use. But if you plan on lots of walks in the park, go for a more comfortable and sleek ride for your little buddle :)

INVEST in a SWING!!!! They will give you lots and lots of breaks to do dishes, watch a movie, etc. I believe Tyler lived and loved in his swing. I was able to get much house work done. I would suggest the Fisher price Papasan

Hi!

I just had my first but have practically raised 2 boys ages 4 and 1. Things we needed and I use now:

Medela in style pump....you will hear great things about this, pricey but worth it.

Baby swing
MANY BIBS...I go through about 30 in a week and a half with a mildly reflux baby and I feel I could still have more lol.
Bottle...with my first nephew we used Dr. Drowns, loved it but too many parts. Now I use the Playtex nursers with the drop-ins...God sent. Only have to wash the nipple and the lid and I sterilize everything maybe one every week to week and a half (pacifiers too but DO NOT use latex nipples in sterilizers or boil them..they will deteriorate).
Sterilizer..dont spend 80 bucks on the one from avent get the cheap one from the first years for 50 bucks...unless you run your dishwasher frequently.
Boppy...good for breastfeeding or just propping up a small baby..my girl even sleeps in it frequently to prevent spitup from her reflux.
car seat
bassinet/pack n play/crib..depends what your needs are

many more...if you want you can check out my registry on babies r us..name is simone salmon

good luck
Simone

I was told by my SIL who just had twins that you can rent pumps from the hospital (you buy the hoses and sterile items of course) so you can see if pumping works for you. This way you don't spend a ton of moolah on a pump and end up not being able to use it. Good luck!

Just had to comment here about the list others have offered...
I know way too many people who make insane registries. It is no-ones responsibility to buy you (or anyone) a crib, $200 breast pump, high end strollers, ect. If you have a lot of big ticket items on your list, it looks like you are taking your shower and the guests for granted. Maybe make a notation on your registry that gift cards to BRU are also appreciated, and if you get anyone offering to buy you a big ticket item, let them know what it is and where it can be found. It is presumputios to register for too many expensive items. Just my thoughts...but I know many who agree.

I gues sI should have made it clear that I am buying all the big ticket items but I know my parents and in-laws will probably want to buy some of the larger items instead of onesies etc.

This was more to get an idea from people what they've used that worked and what was a waste of money.

But, thanks for chiming in and making sure I am not being too greedy.

Sorry if I came across as rude. But whenever I see a registry list, I usually end up in shock. My sisters friend just had a baby shower. She lives in a section 8 apt, and had about $1500 worth of nursery furniture on her list, plus Nautica bedding. Threw a hissy when she didn't get what she wanted. But I see it a lot, unfortunatley. I had my baby at 19, bought most everything mysellf, even then couldn't imagine asking anyone to buy me a crib or carseat, ect. Honestly, I think the most expensive gift was $40.00 that I got. I guess baby showers have come a long way.

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and just started browsing yesterday at things and I tell you I am truly overwhelmed! Getting pregnant was a surprise and since I have PCOS and hubby had some issues we thought for sure we would have to have medical "help" but here we are...anywho...I see you are 13 weeks and hubby and I were wondering when we should start our registry. My SIL didn't do hers until the month of the shower. We thought it would make sense after we get the US and find out sex but now you have me thinking that this is something we should do maybe next month?
