To Tie or NOT TO Tie... that is the question

Thank you one and all... It has been a difficult contimplation let alone decesion to make... and as many of you pointed out... this is the first one who knows where life goes from here, I am under the influance of an achy body and multitudes of hormones, and this decesion more likely then not could be far more perminant then I should be making at the moment expecially since my experience as well as my own faith leads me to believe that babies and pregnancy are clearly miraculous at the least.

Post RNY I was on the pill for a couple years and we used condoms as well... just to be sure... and were successful, when the hormones were a muck I went off the pill and we counted and used condoms and I was able to not get prego, and the first time we actually tried, with out any form of protection I was SHOCKED to find I evidently have no goaly protecting the net even at my age :-).

I guess I still have some thinking to do, but I am leaning heavily on waiting and seeing what happens with this baby before any big decesions are made having to do with perminant closed for biz signs are hung.

Thanks again for all your responces.  It is amazing how a few words from people you have things in common with can set your mind at ease even if that means waiting to make a decesion for another day.

I wouldn't make the decision while pregnant.  I knew all along that I wanted to have only two kids.  The original plan was for my husband to have a vasectomy.  I was afraid to have my tubes tied during a c-section in case something happened to the baby.

Fast forward to about a month before my second was born.  My husband had missed a lot of work taking care of his parents.  I knew that he wouldn't be able to take time off work to have a vasectomy.    I did not want to accidentally get pregnant before he could get it done.

So about a week before Noah was born I made the decision to have my tubes tied.   Sometimes it bothers me that I'll never have another baby.    He is such a sweet little guy.

That being said if I got pregnant I would probably cry for a about 8 out of the nine months lol.

So even being 100% sure I didn't want any more children, I do struggle with the permanency of having my tubes tied.

HTH,
Amy

I knew before I got pregnant this time that I would have a tubal with my next.  I have to have a C/S this time so at birth we will have it done.  My husband has offered to do the vasectomy and if I deliver too quickly b/f the C/S then he will.  Sometimes it is a hard choice for me now that I am hormonal and all but I have difficult pregnancies and will be 35 when this one comes.  Financially we can't do anymore either.  My husband def. doesn't want anymore and we don't have any birth control options that work for us so this is the best choice.  If you are unsure you could do the Mirena IUD for up to 5 years.  I couldn't use it due to my uterine shape, but most people love them.  Good luck in your decision.

It is so nice to have siblings .  Think about it and do it another time when you are ABSOLUTELY, positively sure.

Remember that instead of you having your tubes tied, your husband can get a vasectomy - it need not fall only on you to get "fixed".

By todays standards you two are not so much "older parents"!

Best,
Leila

here is my story

i got married at 20 yrs old starting ttc  a year later no luck, yrs and yrs passed n nothing happened i had wls, then starting taking clomid, i got preg then had a m/c at 7 weeks, then got pregnant a month after and had my daughter, then got pregnant again and i have identical twin boys

i am 30 yrs old now a sahm with 3 kids

i always wanted 4 kids, my hubby always wanted two.  so we comprimised on 3, we agreed we would have the 1st 2 kids close in age then have the 3rd child a few yrs later, well being we were having twins that made a total of 3 kids, i was having a c section and i opted to have my tubes tied, hubby didnt wanna get snipped, it wasnt a big deal really to me, however i have read online stories of ppl still getting preg after a tubal and having a healthy pregnancy, so the way i see it is if i was meant to have a 4th child it would be a miracle, cause my kids were concieved using fertility meds.

good luck with ur decision, i am happy and content with mine
