Ok so Im 17 weeks preggy with baby #4--but this is my first post op pregnancy. I have been having major blood sugar dives since my sleeve. I was on metformin for PCOS but I had them anyway. (Im off the met now since Im pregnant. Took it until 12 weeks.)

PCP isnt concerned. Sometimes I'll have them several times a day for a week or two and then I wont deal with that for a month. Well I asked my midwife about it because I woke up out of a sound sleep last week feeling as if all of the blood had been drained from my body and I needed sugar--glucose stat. She wants me to take an early glucose test. I told the nurse when she called today that I have no idea what my body will do with the sugar and my sleeve. She said Oh you'll be fine. I said No, I have a surgically altered stomach that cant handle that much sugar at once and she is still insisting that I take it. She said it will be much easier if I drink it cold. GAH!

So, for those of you who have taken this test---how was it? Did your body spaz?

Thanks so much! XOXO!

Here was my problem with the glucola: My ob wanted me to eat a regular and then drink it. With Amelia I attempted this... Well, the bottle is 10 oz, combined with food did not fit well and I threw up on the way there. So I told the ob that I could do the 3 hour bottle and just drink half. 5 oz but with 50 g of sugar like the 10oz bottle. I kept that down. tested sort of high. With Penelope, everytime I tried the 5 oz bottle I threw up so I couldn't be tested so I just tested my sugars with  a glucometer for a couple weeks.  Good luck!!! It's soooo gross.

I never had problems with GD and stopped testing after a couple of babies.

I refused the test for this one as well. I don't think it is healthy and it is NOT an accurate test either. http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/gdhgoer.html

Personally I'd also go ahead with the daily testing for a while to get a good and more accurate read on what your body is doing.

Perhaps you need to eat more often or snack more often.

if you get sick of off sugar DO NOT do it. ask for an alternative. I did the postprandial test they draw your fasting blood then you go eat....a "normal" breakfast for you i made sure it had some sugar some carbs and protein then you go back and they test again after two hrs from the time you started eating. I did this and was fine Good luck they had me done two during my pregnancy since i have PCOS.
