Ovulation Tests?
I was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction on how to use these things. I have bought the dollar store tests. I am CD12 as of the 11th of May and need to know when I should start using them, how many a day or when it is the best times. I do know that the test line has to be the same or darker than the control line. I am a clomid user and have been tempting. Does clomid have any different affects on these tests? I do tend to O around CD 16-20. Any suggestions would be great.

I had to test morning and night, if I tested only once a day I missed the positive, as well, I found I had to go with a more expensive brand: I used first response. I didn't have any luck with the dollar store brand. As far as clomid goes, I can't help you with that, but I am sure one of the other girls on her will chime in and help out.
I was told to test in the evening after holding your urine for at least 2 hours. The hormone builds in your system over the course of the day. I would start using them now and go until you get the positive. For me my body was a much better barometer then the tests - my line never got darker then the control line - it got close to matching it but never darker. I had a much better time with monitoring my temp and cervical mucous.
Good luck!

If your tests came with a little instruction guide in the box, it should tell you whether Clomid will skew the results. I'm using a "First Response" 20-day OPK, and the insert doesn't say that you CAN'T... it just says to consult your physician.
Q: Do any medical conditions or drugs affect the test?
A: Certain medical conditions may adversely affect the reliability of this test for predicting ovulation. These include pregnancy, postpartum, post-abortion, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), ovarian cysts, the onset of menopause, and untreated hypothyroidism. Some prescription drugs, such as menotropins for injection (Pergonal1) and danazol (Danocrine2), may affect the result you see. If you are undergoing therapy with Clomiphene citrate (e.g., Clomid3 or Serophene4), please consult your physician for the appropriate time to begin testing. Medications containing hCG or LH may affect the test and should not be taken while using this test. Women with medically diagnosed fertility problems should consult their physicians before using this product.

No clomid did not affect OPK's unless you start OPKS while you are still taking the drug so if you take it cycle day 5-9 then you start opks on cd 13 it would be fine you can also see that the opks will usually get darker each day leading up to O and then fade away I always used them 2x after my surge to make sure. I used answer brand then used a fertilty monitor. Start using them tommorow. You only have so many chances with clomid so do everything in your power to make sure you DTD when you O and do it for a few days after too....the answer brand comes with 20 so you can use them again if you need to. the dollar tree may work for you but i would not chance it when you are on clomid.....i tested in the afternoon. Are you using fertlityfriend.com to track your temp etc?
