I can't imagine how scary this is, having not been through it. I hope it gets better and turns out to be nothing.
I would, however, say that you need to find a way to put the monitor on her at night. It may require waiting til she's asleep then putting it on so that she's less likely to kick it off...but the dr needs to see the entire 'story' before he can tell you for sure one way or the other if there's a problem or not.
