Has anyone here got pregnent early out of surgery???

If so was the baby healthy>? and any complications?? I am 4 months out of surgery just found out I am pregnant yikes & I was on the IUD I guess I was that 1% now I am worried if baby will be okay?

I am 5 months out of surgery and a month pregnant my doctor says baby will most likely be fine at my expense so I must stay on top of my vitamins and eat right and he will monitor me closely. I think the same would apply to you. I do not know too much about vsg but I had the rny. Congratulations on you pregnancy.

I got pregnant 2 1/2 months post op. I had a very good pregnancy & delivery & a perfect baby. I had to be diligent about taking my vitamins and getting my protein and water in every day and I also had a lot of doctor appointments and ultrasounds just to make sure baby and I were doing well. Over all everything went perfectly.

Sounds like you & I are in the same boat : ) I was 4 months post-op VSG, when I found out that I was pregnant...SURPRISE !!! My surgeon is very confident (way more than I was in the beginning) that everything will be just fine. He says that it's definitely a plus that we don't have the malabsorbation factor. So, at least, everything we can get in is absorbed/useful. Although as you can see from the previous posts, our RNY friends are doing great too : )  I am on a great prenatal vitamin (Prenate DHA) that is a capsule which is wonderful because I have a hard time with tablets. So, I was excited to find one that I tolerate so well. I am still early, but so far so good. I'm sure you are scared, nervous, & still surprised, but you'll do great !!! : )

First off congrats:)  I haven't but my two friends who had vsg both are pregnant right now (3 weeks apart...) both were 5 months out of surgery when they got preggers and are six months out now.  The babies are doing fine.  I guess the baby will take what it needs from you and you just need to be on top of vitamins and all that stuff.  One has gestational diabetes or is borderline for that but it's all being monitored.  They are both loving being able to eat all day and take in as many calories as possible (well 1800 cal/day) but for us that is quite hard.  Good luck :D  Our dr didn't forsee any problems just that it is higher risk and you have to be more on top of things as you can't eat as much so early after surgery.

Thank you all soo much for all the replys! =) I am excited to have this baby! I also wanted to know did you guys still take your Omeprazole daily? or was that harmful to the baby I have not talk to my Doc yet and I take B-12 3 times a week is that okay for baby as well?

I just had a revision to RNY, from Lapband. I know I will get a lot of sh*t for this here, but I am going to start TTC in a few months. If it happens immedietly (which I doubt), then I will be four months post op. Since I only have 25lbs to lose and am healthy otherwise, I do not see it as a problem. I know the vitamin requirements and will be following them religiously. Do not beat yourself up, just take care of yourself and your baby the best you can.
I also was told by my surgeons office that anyone who gets prego within 2 years post-op, has to see a high-risk DR as a precaution. More dr appts, better care, more fetal monitoring and monthly ultrasounds? Works for me

Well, I had been TTC for 5 years before gastric bypass. I had no luck. I was hoping that things with the RNY would help with fertility issues. I am currently on the ring, but it is giving me a ton of problems that had not been a problem 50 (+) lbs ago...very sore in that area and Hubby is complaing about it too. I am going to try to switch to birth control pills, but what if if I conceive in between. I am nervous, about it but of course would welcome it at the same time. I was told DO NOT GET PG until 2 years out. Any thoughts?

I'm just curious, but in every seminar I attended, and every surgeon I saw, I was always told I had to agree to using two forms of contraception for at least 18 months post-op if I was sexually active.  Is that not common everywhere?
