possible GD, even after so much weight loss! Grrr...

 Hey ladies -
So, since I am a dumper, I have been unable to take a glucose tolorance test to screen for GD. Instead of the test, my OB suggested I test my sugar one full day a week. So, I missed last week, and today, all my levels were great all day, then, after a slightly carby-er dinner, I tested and it was super high (266 after 1 hour, 150 after 90 min) I had GD with my son, when I was weighing in at 365 lbs. I just thought losing so much weight would help me to avoid this again. I am so dissapointed. So, I am going to test again tomorrow, and call my OB and report myself. I am assuming that if the reading was that high and my carb/sugar intake was not NEARLY what it would be if I took the GTT, that I will have to start going back to the endocrin doc. Sucky.....
Has anyone else had to test like this? Anyone else lost a bunch of weight only to have to still deal with GD?
Thanks for the venting space...

K

Weight really doesn't play any factor in whether or not your will have GD or not.  Some of my skinny friends that have never had a weight problem developed GD.  Sorry you are dealing with this.

Yes, I know healthy-weight woman get it too, but you are more likely to get it if you are over weight. Just wishing I could have avoided it! *sigh* thanks for the response!

Yeah... GD is related to raises in hormones during pg and not related to weight or even type 2 for that matter. I had type 2 and it went away with wls...but got gd with both of my post op pregnancies. It did go away after birth though. I know it sucks, but just do what you have to do to keep that babe healthy. It is just 13 more weeks right? GL
