I am 1 1/2 years post op DS. I lost a total of 140 pounds post surgery, and I was very comfortable 125 pounds. I became pregnant in January while using a Nuva Ring. I am excited even though this wasn't planned. I was very sick during my first trimester and lost 10-11 pounds. Second trimester began and morning sickness disappeared. Hubby and I went on a cruise, and I gained 5 pounds back while gone. Now I haven't gained another pound. I am 16 weeks, and I weigh 5-6 pounds less than I did before I got pregnant. I am also having some BM troubles thanks to progesterone. I don't have constipation, but it takes me forever to go. Doctor told me try to dul colax and try to have a high calorie, high protein diet. Any ideas? Has anyone else has similar issues? I just want to make sure that I am "normal" for this.

Thanks!

Are you worried about the weight gain not being on track?

Here's what I can tell you about that: When I found out I was pregnant I weighed 171.  I got down to 166 in my first trimester and now I'm up to 173.  So technically I've only gained 2 pounds and I'm in my 24th week.

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday and the baby was measuring perfectly.  What I gather from this is that while the baby & equipment has been growing, I've still been losing in other places.  Like my weight has been displaced from wherever it was to the baby.

About the constipation: have you tried adding more fat to your diet?  I know I have to do that when things aren't moving along as smoothly as I'd like.  I try adding mayo/ranch to anything possible and I have regular doses of curly fries, lol.

1/2 cup of no sugar added ice cream or sugar free desert always gets things moving along for me. Ive heard some people swear by a mcdonalds cheeseburger. Lol.

Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!

I just wanted to say thanks for asking the questions.  I just found out that Im preggo, and Im only a year out.
What I have been doing to keep the BM's coming is walking.  As any runner, they will tell you that the movement makes them MOVE.   A good strong cup of Starbucks can also get things stimulated.  I used Ducolax wit hmy last pregnancy and it made me really gassy.  that was also pre op.  If its hormonal, I would try walking and coffee.  The walking will also help your body process excess hormones.

Just wanted to add some info about the weight loss.  While this didn't happen to me, it did happen to my best friend while we were pregnant at the same time.  She lost 20 pounds in the first trimester and didn't gain it back or put on any weight until around the third trimester. Her baby is so fine and healthy that when she was born, a month after my little boy, she was bigger than he was!

So I wouldn't worry much about the weight thing. They say it happens a lot, especially with girls! As for the BM thing, I didn't have that problem until AFTER I had Kaleb. Weird.
