Help! Breast pain!

I have no idea what the problem is! My left breast hurts like crazy! The pain is far up on the very top of my breast. If I don't wear a bra the pain is terrible! The weight of my breast is too much to bear. I carry Annie on that side and a few times I have scooted her up and the pain feels like something is ripping inside. I keep being told it is a blocked duct but is it supposed to hurt this bad? It doesn't hurt to the touch or if I massage it. It isn't red or bruised. It doesn't seem to be hot to the touch. It doesn't hurt to bf or pump. I was told by Annie's Ped to massage it and put hot & cold press on it. Also I was told to favor that breast until the pain goes away. The pain is just getting worse and worse and today I can even feel it just sitting here with 2 bras on! Have any of you experienced this problem?! I would go to the Dr but I can't afford the co-pay right now and I can almost guarantee they would just feed me a bunch of crap and send me home. Usually the Dr is just a waste of time for me! Thanks ladies!

You're not pregnant, are you?   I have TERRIBLE breast pain at the beginning of my pregnancies.

It could be the start of a breast infection or thrush, watch for signs of fever, warmth or redness. You can also try painting your nipples with Gentian violet to see if you get any relife. Otherwise I would stick with what you are doing, favor that breast while feeding, get in the shower and let the ho****er run on it, use hot compresses and do not lay or put any pressure on it for a bit.

Yes, plugged ducts HURT!!!!

BTDT too many times.

Massage the area while pumping as much as you can. If you can take some lecithin (found in health food stores) this helps to break up the plugs and keep things moving freely.

Try pumping in between feeding too, to help encourage the plug to dislodge and hopefully get expelled sooner too.

It can take a week or so and then there is risidual pain after wards.

Sorry you are going through this. My BF experience with my last baby was pure torture with all of the plugged ducts I had. Especially if I stopped taking my lecithin.
