Update from the high risk dr

Well, we saw the high risk dr yesterday. The doctor I saw last time wasnt there, they had not recieved any kind of paperwork from the hospital, notes from my doctor regarding the band etc. So I had to tell them about it, and they couldnt find it on the sono. The dr said if he didnt see it, it wasnt there, but they missed it in every sono up untill I was in the hopsital last week, and it was most definatly there... he DID however find a huge blood clot in my placenta. He said that is what is causing my bleeding, and I will probably have more. He says any increase past the bleeding I allready experience I need to go in to hospital. The blood clot can self correct, the only thing he wants to make sure of is that it isnt restricting the babys growth. Sophia looks good. She has gained in oz in a week, which is a good thing. We STILL have not gotten to see her little face. She always covers up with her  arm or burys it into my placenta. Im thinking we are going to go pay for a 3d sono... anyways this dr says that I should be able to go full term with no problems.. which isnt what the previous high risk dr said... I found out they dont actually deliver,  so im bummed about that. The search continues for a new obgyn, in Delaware, and hour away.

So, in the long run, good news. My husband is relieved, as is everyone else... but im... trepiditious. Ive had so many conflicting answers, and things happen out of the blue that I feel so guarded. Im concerned that this band was there and then wasnt, and with them not having the papers from my dr's office, it almost seemed like this new dr didnt 'believe' me. He looked around for 2 minutes literally. So part of me keeps thinking that they missed it before, what if they are missing it again, and it IS serious, and they just arent seeing it... When we went yesterday I had planned on seeing the last ob, who I really like, because he has such a calm nature, makes it seem like you are his only patient and that he actually cares. He told us he would tell us all his recommendations were, so I was planning on a step by step plan of action, which I KNOW is unrealistic, but I wanted one. So, I just feel... indifferent. I know it sounds awful that im not jumping off the walls... am I abnormal?

Hi Jennifer. I am glad they figured out what is causing your bleeding. I hope the clot corrects itself. I think maybe I missed a post because I don't understand what you are saying about the band. I understand why you feel indifferent. I don't think that's abnormal. I think it's probably your way of protecting yourself against feeling depressed. I am glad this doc seems hopeful for you!

When I was admitted to the hospital a week ago they did an ultrasound and found an amniotic band stretching across the bottom half of my usterus, with amniotic fluid pooling behind it. But when I went to the high risk doc yesterday, they had recieved no info from the hopsital, and couldnt find it on the sono.

Thanks for understanding how I feel. My husband dosent understand why im not jumping for joy.

That would make me nervous too like they just missed it. I hope that it just went away, or was never there. That would be great! But I definately understand your suspicion. I hope all goes well with the blood clot too.

It is completely normal to still be concerned. You're a Mommy & it's our job to protect our little ones. Once you have scare, it's only natural to be a little jaded, especially with the "wishy-washy" answers you've been given. I'm sure it's also hard for you to have complete faith in a physician that you don't know well enough to trust completely. I am still very early in my pregnancy, but I have had 3 episodes of heavy, bright, red bleeding. The doctor has said the baby is fine from the very beginning, but I continued to have this impending feeling of doom. My husband is like yours. He kept saying the doctor says everything is fine. I feel like it is much easier for them to take the doctors at their word. I, on the other hand, continue to think of everything that could still go wrong. I know I shouldn't worry, BUT that is impossible for a pregnant woman. I am very happy that you got positive news from the Dr. & I will continue to send up prayers for you & sweet baby Sophia : ) I will NOT tell you not to worry...LOL : )

It does seem strange that this dr didn't find it...but if he's a high risk and knows what he's looking for, and he doesn't find it...then even if it's there...it's not a huge one and likely not a problem.  However, to put your mind at ease, if I were you, I'd contact the hospital, get the copies of the reports yourself, and make another appointment and hand deliver them...so you know that they have them in hand when you see them next time.

Good luck finding a dr in Delaware.  An hour away isn't so bad as long as she gives you enough warning to get to the hospital on time!

Did they have a clue what caused the blood clot?  That would bother me too...not knowing why it was there.

I have an appointment in 4 weeks, and will hopefully see the original high risk dr. I plan on going to the hospital and getting copies of the sonograms and bringing them so they can atleast see what they saw forst hand. As far as the blood clot, noone knows what causes them, but he does figure this to be the cause for all of the bleeding ive been having. Hopefully it dosent get worse! Thanks for the luck :)

Well thank God everything is ok and the band is not there. Did a Dr. do your ultrasound at the hospital? If it wasn't a Dr., I'd trust the Dr's opinion from today over just some tech from the hospital. Maybe when they get your records they will review them thoroughly and make double sure it's not there on your next visit.
