A small whine and a question

Seems like we are both super uncomfortable today.

Everything you are talking about is exactly what's been going on with me for about 2 weeks now.  Your large intestine is right next to your uterus, so when you have diarrhea, it can make your uterus contract, and vice versa.  Unfortunately this can, and most likely will last for weeks.  It's "pre labor" your body is getting ready!!  My Dr. has told me a million times that in the long run, when you are actually in active labor, all of the cramping and contractions will not be in vain, because your body has been doing work for weeks.  There was one night when I had hard contractions about 4 minutes apart for like an hour, I thought it was the real thing.  Then it completely stopped!  Easier said than done I KNOW but try and just relax.  As long as there's no blood and your BP and everything is good, I hate to say you may need to get used to this for the next 3-4 weeks!!!

Ugh

Thanks Karen! I'm not due for another 4 weeks so I shouldn't expect anything sooner. I'll see what the OB has to say on monday too.

I haven't been as good about checking my BP - I know it's been higher then it was but is still in range. But nope - no blood and no leaking of fluid either.

LEts hope that this baby is like Mommy and always early! lol

Hey Liz,

You know.. this will be my 6th delivery and to be honest, everything can be so different with each one it is hard to say what is the norm.  My first started slowly and lasted a long time with barely any progression ending in a c-section.  The 2nd was a little faster but was complicated and prolonged due to my blood pressure, but still was able to VBAC.  The 3rd... sounds a little like what you are experiencing now.  I had irregular contractions.. more intense than a BH and no pattern whatsoever.  They did last anywhere from 30sec to 1 min, some took my breath away and made me stop what I was doing and take a deep breath sometimes..  I was 39 wks and 4 days I think.  I had a doctors appt that day around 2:30 I think.  I went in, and told doc.. I've been having contractions on and off all day.  He decided since my due date was only 2 days away to check me to see if I was dialated.... this was the conversation...

Doc: Did you bring your bag?  (his office was at the hospital)
Me: No, why?
Doc:  Because you're staying.
Me: Umm.. why?
Doc: Because you're 6 cm.
Me: Oh, uh, ok.  (insert nervous giggle)

Got to my room around 4:30... told them.. bring on the epidural, because I know it's gonna get worse.  LOL  got my epi in place... Around 820pm said I feel like she is trying to use my belly button as leverage to push out.  Sure enough... I was 10am and ready to push.  3 rounds of pushing and she was out.  8:35pm

Then it was c-sections from then on out.  LOL

Just listen to your body... call when you're unsure.

Hugs
B

Welcome to the very uncomfortable club.  I've been here since around your time period, if not before.  I keep thinking I'm in labor but there is no rhyme or reason, or there is a rhyme but it goes away just like that after about 30 mins.  You are in pre-labor.  Good news?  You are probably starting to efface and dilate.  I'm doing good for where I am, about 2cm and 50% effaced.  By the time you hit 38wks, you will probably be ahead of schedule too.  I am progressing nicely too...problem is...it hurts like hell to progress.

Menstrual like cramps, very strong?  check
Pelvis hurts really bad?  check
Cervical poking?  oh check, your baby is probably in position
My hoo ha feels like its on fire?  check
Flu like symptoms?  check

Like Karen said...its just your body getting ready.  I have wondered if I'd know its a real contraction but I have had a few and I can say that they are TERRIBLE and you will know.

Thanks Anne. Sorry that we have to be in this club together! It sucks! lol BUT at least there is an awesome prize at the end of the road for us!!

flu like symptoms - you mean like exhausted, achy and irritable - yep got that too. I have just been blaming it on over doing it (which I am sure helps too!)

WE'll see if there's any progress when I go monday. I have my GBS test and my first internal then and an ultrasound tuesday.

I was in early labor for 4 days before I had my son. Achy, constant uncomfortable BH, diarrhea, etc. I was so worried I would go into labor and not realize it. Boy was I wrong! I woke up on a Saturday with a strong contraction and for me (this might be TMI) I felt like if I could just pass some gas I would feel better. I took GasX, I tried a bath, I tried everything to have relief. I couldn't decide if they were getting stronger or if I was just imagining it. My doctor told me to come in when I reached the 5-1-1 rule and could not talk through my contractions. I never got to the no talking part. I asked my husband to take a walk with me because if it was real labor it would make them stronger. By the time I got my shoes on and got to the door I told my husband "We have to go to the hospital. If this isn't labor, I am dying!" LOL There was no doubt it was labor, but I think I had been looking for every sign of labor for so long, that when it came I just couldn't believe it. Good luck. Hopefully the baby bakes at least another week or so!

Thanks Rachel! I keep telling the baby that anytime in May is fair game but to wait until then! lol

I figured I would know it when I felt it - but being a first timer I still worry!

If they continue or get stronger, give your doc a call. It may be nothing, but it could be labor as well. They can bring you into l&d and monitor you for an hour and tell you for sure. Drink lots of water too since you have diarreah, and take it easy. This is your bodys way of saying slow down mama! :) Good luck!

Super proud mommy to Dylan, Owen and Sophia Brianne!
