Stajah's birth story
So, after getting settled in at home, I have a few minutes to post the birth story of my wonderful Little ladybug.
To start on Wednesday night, my husband and I decided to have sex, what makes the baby also makes the baby come out right...well in my case, I believe so! So about ten mins after, I began to feel some very hard contractions, starting at about 3-5 mins apart, but not hard enough in m opinion to be in the real thing...at least my thought. Well throughout the night it continued. At about 1am they got uncomfortable enough that I decided to take a bath. All this my husband was sleeping through. I didn't want to tell my husband until I was sure I was in labor. So he gets up at 5am and heads to work. I had a dr. appt this day at 4:45, so i knew if this was really happening, then here would be some progress during my visit. Since they had continued all day, I decided when my husband called me a lunch, I would mention it to him. Now understand, these contractions were uncomfortable, but not super painful, like it looks on the "Baby Story", so I figured just BH because they were not that painful.
So Dr.appt. she checked me and said....good news, you are 3 cm and 80% and at the end of the first phase of labor. Dr. indicated that she anticipated that I would be at the hospital in active labor in the next 1-2 hours. So approximately 6:30 we headed to LandD. They had gotten stronger and much closer together. Once there they check me and I was nearly four...and staying. They got me in my delivery room about 8:30 and they gave me a shot of pain meds until my blood test come back and they could give me an epi. I was at 6cm at this point and though I wasn't dying in pain by any means, figured it was time to get meds to it would go away all together and I could get some sleep. My bag of water was bulging through and they anticipated it would break on its own, so they didn't break it at this time.
About 3am I was between 7-8 cm and no water breaking, so they decided to get my contracts going harder, so they started some potocin. At 4am they decided to break my water. I immediately could feel the pressure up against my bottom, but it didn't hurt, I could just feel it. I mentioned it to the nurse at about 4:30, and she said i bet terr check you...and sure enough, it was time to push. It was so funny because my husband had just got off the phone with my mom and said it would probably be a couple hours. He also says, so this pushing is it for you to practice. The nurse said, no, she is ready to come out.
I began pushing shortly after. My baby's heart rate was dropping with every push, and they only had me push on every other contracts to ensure baby's heart rate came back up. So once she got close enough they realized the cord was around her neck once and her body once. So they had to cut it before she came all the way out.
Well at 5am after about 6-7 pushes she came out. (less than 30 mins) I did have an episiotomy but it wasn't to bad of a cut. She was taken to the table right way to be looked at because they wanted to be sure she was good due to her heart rate dropping. She was fine not problems-breathing on her own ect. The nurse mentioned, if they would have broken my water earlier, she would have come much earlier. I didn't complain, I was only in active labor for about 10 hours and pushing for less than 30...they say that's really good for my first baby. And with the epi, it didn't hurt.
Here is a little side note, every day my baby would wake up at 5am kick and move around. This is the time my husband gets up every morning. Every day he would ask i f she was up...we just thought it was interesting this was her exact time of arrival, as if she her daddy's alarm clock going off!
The hospital stay was good, I only am sore around stitches, but every day that gets better.
My pretty lady pics are below...she is 5 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches long.
