TTC - Question about OV predictor kits and sperm life

If an ovulation predictaor kit detects an LH surge today and intercourse takes place today will the sperm survive long enough in the body/cervix to be there when you actually ovulate in 24-36 hours from today? Thanks for any feedback you might be able to provide.

According to my RE, sperm can live up to five days. He recommended us to have intercourse every other day during the entire phase of ovulation (pre, during and after egg relaeased.

I read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" when I started TTC and it was very helpful!

Well, my hubby and I weren't trying and my doctor's had told me I don't ovulate anymore.  But I didn't believe them so was doing the Ovulation sticks.  One time only did we not use protection and that was on Tues. on Wed. afternoon my stick showed a surge was coming.  Well guess what, we are now 11 weeks and 6 days pregnant so they def. live a few days.  Good luck.
