SO PISSED OFF ABOUT MY GLUCOSE TEST!!!!!!
Uggh. So last week my doctor gave me my labslip to get my glucose tolerance test. At that point I told my doctor about the inablity to handle the glucola, due to my RNY and told him I had heard that I could eat a meal in place of it. He hadnt heard of it, but we seemed to be on the same page when I left. Well I get to Labcorp, and told the woman, and she had 'never heard of that' and then called my doctors office. The nurse at my dr office wanted to talk to me, and when I got on the phone with her she had an attitude, and was like if you cant have the clear, you can drink the orange. I said no, it has nothing to do with flavor, its the sugar content. It will make me sick. She was like why? I explained that I had RNY, and she was like 'whats that?' At that point I was getting frustrated but still keeping my cool, and she put me on hold to get my chart. When she got back on the line she said that the doctor didnt have anything in my file other then there was a ? if I could tolerate it. Then she said 'YOU CAN DECLINE THE TEST AND PUT YOUR BABY AT RISK, OR JUST TAKE THE TEST AND STOP COMPLAINING.' wtf????!!! I was livid, but still bite my tounge and requested I speak to the dr. After holding, again she gets back on the line and said the dr just wants to do a fasting blood sugar and thats all they can do. So, how is that going to indicate **** But I just said whatever, took the test and left. I put a call into my surgeons office to see if they can write a letter or place a call to my ob, and hopefully will hear back by this afternoon. Have any of you ladies eexperienced this? If so, can you tell me your stories? Thanks for listening to my rant!!!
I really wanted to...In fact the dr office was in the same complex as labcorp. I started to walk over there but my hubby stopped me. Probably a good thing because, having fasted for 12 hours I was hungry and cranky allready, and may have really caused quite the scene. If you read the post I just posted about the other stuff, you will see I am quite on edge. :(

8 oz. of 50-100g of sugar. And it's nasty. And it made me sick when I was pregnant & PRE-OP. I'm not doing it after RNY. I have to test my blood sugar 5 times a day for 2 weeks. I just started on the 14th. It's just SO fun.....not! But at least it's accurate. The GTT isn't accurate in RNY patients........and my OB just doesn't seem to want to get that through his head, but he let me do the alternate test.
I just decline it and leave it at that. I did this even before my surgery. But then again I drop my OB's before delivery too, LOL I don't think it's healthy to drink that much sugar and I don't think the test is reliable either.
