Most of you all know about the problems I had with my previous ob dr that made me recently change ob's. I wasnt happy, they had my blood type wrong, refused to give me a rohgam shot, sent me home bleeding, refused to send me to a highrisk dr (went on my own, and he said I should have been seeing him all along, however he is 2 hours away, so I have to have a regular ob for regular monitoring as well as for when I go into labor etc) So, because of all that and more, I finally found a new ob. It took me forever to get in with this dr. There are only 3 other ob's in our city that arent in the practice I left. 2 of those doctors have no spots for July deliveries. So that left the one dr. Ive seen him for 2 weeks now, and he just informed me that as of June 1st, a month before my due date, HE IS JOINING THE PRACTICE I LEFT!! WTF! So now, as of June 1st. I have no ob's in my city that I can see. Because I left the practice I didnt like because I had problems, I cant go back there, nor do I want to as they put my childs life at risk. My new choices for OB's are either an hour away in Easton Md, and would have to deliver there, or 45 minutes away in Delaware, a completly different state... I put in a few calls to the THREE drs I could find in Delaware, and am running into the same problem where they are full for my delivery date. One dr office says I have to fax my records to them and they will take a look and see if theyll take me or not. And probably not since im a risky delivery with all the problems Ive had. I am so stressed and upset and down and scared!!!!!

i dont understand how someone can turn away a patient.. thats absurd.. its one thing if they dont feel comfy handling a case... but to say they are full... full???? wtf... im so thankful i have had such wonderful drs

I'm sorry.  I bet you are ready to strangle people!  Could a family practice doctor monitor you through the rest of your pregnancy?  Then when you go into labor, you go to the hospital and take a chance on who's there.  Whoever it is, they will deliver your baby.  That would keep you local.  Other than that, you could go to the hospital 45 min away when you deliver?

It shouldn't be this hard to find a doctor who's good quality.  I don't know what's up with them.  It seems like customer service and the desire to truly help people has pretty much gone out the window with so many doctors.  (I had one my last pregnancy.)

I hope you find a solution soon.

There would be a chance of the Dr who I had the problem with being the one on call at the hospital if I just chance it. We know they will induce, but in the mean time I have to have a regular ob, no regular dr can see me, liability insurance dosent cover it for the docs. (I called my regular dr) Im trying to find a doc to take me who delivers at the hospital thats 45 mins away... looks like I may end up driving an hour for an ob. This is so scary and uncalled for.

I know your high risk OB wants someone to monitor you, but does he/she ever deliver? Maybe they could make some suggestions. He should be able to deliver in a pinch anyway, or know someone who could. I'm sorry it's been so tough for you! I have always been pretty lucky in that I found a great Doc and everything pretty easily. I hope you find an answer soon.

I have an appointment with my high risk doctor on the 27th. I am going to ask him about delivery then. We really like him, and wouldnt mind him delivering, but the hospital he delivers at is 3 hours away. That would make it really hard on my other kids and family who will want to visit in the hospital. It may be what ends up needing to happen anyways, but we will see what he has to say...

Do you live in a very small town or something? How are there no doctors around.. that's horrible. Those doctor's offices do not sound very professional.

He needs to refer you to someone else.....plain and simple. He can't just leave you in the lurch with no OB care and YOU need to tell him that.......SOON! It's his responsibility if he's leaving to find a replacement that you can go to.
