Creative Ideas to tell the family the sex of the baby

I am having my anatomical ultrasound on Thursday.  The doctor said if I wanted to know the sex, they would tell me.  I am going to find out, but I don't just want to call everyone and tell them.

I was just wondering if anyone had any creative ideas......

I think that it was Monet (Preggo brain taking over) had the Dr write it down and put it in an envelope - she gave it to the baker and they made a cake that was colored pink or blue and the frosting was neutral so when she had everyone over for dinner and they cut into the cake for dessert the sex of the baby was revealed - I love that idea!

Liz I soo love that Idea :) I may have to write that one down I want to be surprised more than just being told in the office, and I do want to find out at the same time as my family.

I'm so impatient and excited, I would open the envelope!!  LOL  But I do love that idea.....I think I will get the ingredients and bake pink and blue cupcakes (so that they are ready for Thursday) and then go around to houses after I find out.

I'm sure someone will eat the ones that don't indicate the sex of the baby!!  LOL

THANKS!!

Were doing the cake thing for my early and first babyshower ever!!!!!
The tech wrote down the sex of baby and put in envelope!
I'll give it to my friend and she will do my invitations.
It will say boy or girl inside!
Everyone must wrap gifts in unisex colors.

Yep, it was me!  SO much fun!  Wish I had done the same thing when we had Bella!  I got the idea from a co-worker a couple of years ago, then the Duggers did the same thing on national TV (Josh and Anna).  I would highly recommend it - if you can stand the suspense!

We did something along the same lines but it was only for our kids. They were all going to come with us for the u/s but they ended up getting sick and I didn't want to bring them with us.

So we found out the gender and then got a cake with blue frosting and had the bakery write in blue frosting "it's a Girl". The baker and the checkout clerk thought we were nuts, but when we explained things they got the idea.

Half our kids can read and kids are usually visual too. So we wanted to trick them when we pulled the cake out via the visual color first.

It worked when we pulled it out and revealed the baby's gender they first shouted "It's a Boy!" and then we said "Read it!"

Of course then they read that the cake said "It's a Girl!" They loved it and loved how we tricked them. It was a fun celebration for our family too. We wanted a girl and we have been blessed with another girl. (Now we'll have 4 girls and 4 boys).

My family is too far spread out in this country to reveal in a special way, so the pictures of the cake said it all and it still kind of worked in the manner of "trickery", LOL They saw blue and thought "boy" until they read it. LOL

OKay I don't know if you want to do it this way or not...she had the dr's office write down what the sex of the baby was and put it in an envelope and seal it. Then she called everyone together for dinner, after everyone ate she then brought out a cake that would show the sex of the baby. She took the sealed envelope to the store and told them that she wanted a cake, inside the cake she wanted the color icing for the sex of the baby. On the top she wanted the cake to be blue and pink.
This way they all found out at once the sex of the baby. They didn't even know until she cut into the cake.

I think its a cute way to tell people.
