Painful Boobs to the Touch???

Something I just noticed....my areolas have gotten aLOT darker and they look almost like the color is spreading into the regular boob.  The areola is painful to the touch.  Almost like they have been scratched.  Does that make sense?  I have NOT had the baby yet....

Boobs feel fuller, the little bumps more pronounced...could it be an infection or what?  Does engorgement happen BEFORE you have the baby??   Ever?  Yowsa this hurts!

That doesn't sound normal to me, but I never became engorged with my daughter, so I don't know for sure. I'd be calling my doc to make sure.

Nope not normal...I think one of the ducts is clogged or something?  When I pressed on one of the bumps, and put heat to it, alot of colostrum came out.  Hmmm....I did the heat compress thingie about 3 times and it started to feel better.  It hurts a little today, so I think I'll continue the compress but IF I make my appt Thurs(hope I don't!) I'll ask about it then, unless it gets worse then I'll of course ask sooner!

Definitely tell your doctor and continue hot showers and compresses to open the ducts up.  If you develop a fever I would get to the docs asap..mastitis (breast infection) is not fun.
