Im joining you here
i just got my BFP on Thurs and did b/w to confirm beta still low but thats jsut cause im still early about 5 wks. It was like this with my dtr, I just knew right away lol. I had to get off my coumadin and started my lovenox injections. Now to get thru the next few weeks, i know several people that have had m/c and im just extra worried this time around. What advice can any of you give with eating enough and do you still take reg muti vit or did you switch to prenatal? I heard some people take 2 a day to get all vit, is that right? I get repeat Beta thurs and will then set up my OB appt
Hey Crystal. I don't know what type of surgery you had, but I had RNY. I have continued per doc's request on the same vitamins I was on pre-baby. Except I take a butt-load of folic acid. You need at least 400mcg, but there is no toxicity on this vitamin. I take roughly 1200mcg a day b/c I don't know how much I malabsorb it. They advise women that have had miscarriages to take at least 1mg, so I would tell you to load up...but talk to your surgeon and OB ASAP.
I take 2 Centrum Chewables, 1500mg Calcium Citrate, 29mg Iron, B12 sublingual daily, and extra folic.
If you had RNY, you need to get yourself out of ketosis so make SURE you eat at least 100g of carbs a day, eat a lOT of protein, and up your calories as much as possible to at least 1500-1800 a day. Your NUT may give you a higher # to meet, but those are the basics.
And relax. Congrats on being prego...and welcome!

Congrats and welcome! I started taking my prenatals before I got preggers and they were working great when i had blood work done. I would talk to your nut at the surgeons office and see what they reccomend. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Anderson so the off should be able to help.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
