I have a couple ?'s about the depo shot. Has anyone gotten pregnant while on depo? Did you have a pregnancy test before you next shot?

Im freakin out because I got my second depo shot since having Marshall. it was on time and in the time frame to have it. So there was no lapse without birth control. But the past like  two weeks i am exteremly weak and tired. I am beyond misreable and VERY short with hubby. I have been cramping but no real period. I asked the doc and she said i should be fine but never did a pregnancy test just in case. Does anyone have any experience and could it be post partum depression sneaking up on me now?? Im wondering if i should go get a pregnancy test to calm myself down?

Any help would be greatly appericated!!

I don't have any experience with depo but I'd definitely suggest the pregnancy test if it will help you calm down.

Any chemical that messes with your hormones (ie. any birth control) is going to play with your emotions.

Oh yeah...depo.  I used it for about a year...the progesterone in the shot can mimic pregnancy symptoms.  Believe you me...my husband says if I ever EVER go back to the shot, the marriage is over...LOL.  He says now that he has experienced me pregnant and me on the shot, he prefers pregnancy.  And that is bad!  The shot will eventually take the period away too...so they say.  It never did mine, but then I never had mine with any accuracy til after surgery and the shot was prior to surgery.

I'd say take a test, but I bet its just the shot making you that way.  It can make your boobs hurt too.

I used the shot for 2 years. I was moody at times and good thing was no periods for almost the whole time. Seemed though I would still get moody around times I would have had one though so just figured my body was used to get grouchy and all. Never hurts to check though.

I run a Depo-Provera support group. I had only 2 shots and had such a horrible experince with it. Gained 50lbs and a whole plethora of things. You can vist my site at http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/CelestialEnigma/

Depo-Provera triggers your body into a fake menopause so you will experience extreme mood swings. Many women feel pregnant while on the shot but the liklihood that you are pregnant is very slim. It's possible but not highly likely.

It could just be the effects of the shot. I did depo once and absolutely HATED it. I was a jacked up mess for 3 months PLUS sex was super painful. I blame the shot entirely because during my 6 weeks postpartum I didn't have depression issues, weight gain issues (I was losing nicely), and the few times I had sex before the shot weren't painful. Less than a week after the shot, it all started. Sex became less painful about 2 weeks before I was due for my next shot. Everything went away after the 3 month timeframe I was on the shot.

You could have told me you were having issues with bad breath or toenail fungus and I would blame the shot. That's how much I hate the thing lol.
