Endoscopy......

OK....so I have nothing but complications since my RNY almost 3 years ago.  The OB has not been convinced that what is going on with is entirely pregnancy related......"from my experience, the things you are experiencing are related to your RNY issues...not all pregnancy"

I went to see my surgeon and they have scheduled me for an EGD, with possible dilatation, next Friday.  According to my surgeon, this is safe because I am in my second trimester (I'll be 20 weeks next week).  My surgeon and OB are in two different towns almost 3 hours away from each other.  I asked the surgeon if he wanted to consult with my OB and he said no.,....his concern was to make sure that we could get the severe nausea under control and to make sure I could eat.

The good thing....I see the OB on the day before, so if he wants he can call the surgeon.

I'm just concerned for the baby......if I have to stay like for the next 5 months then I can deal with it....just don't hurt my baby.....

Thanks for listening

Good luck with the Dr's. I know of a few people who have actually had surgery while pregnant so I am sure that you and baby will be fine.

Good luck!!

Why not call your OB over the phone and talk to the nurse about what your surgeon is wanting? They will then tell if you there is anything to stay away from or if it is fine.

I called my OB office about a dental procedure. They gave me a dental note that stated what medications I could have, antibiotics, and etc. They discussed x-ray and everything inside that note. They discussed medications that the dentist was not allowed to use. I didn't ask for a note but they already had one prepared from past patients. So, I just took it with me to my dental appointment.

I just had an emergency appendectomy at 21 weeks and my baby was and is just fine. My surgery was almost 3 weeks ago and the baby is active and healthy. They did monitor the baby during the surgery. Your baby should be just fine. Good luck!!
