ankle swelling question

OK so now that it is getting warmer out here (near 80 again today) and I am almost 35 weeks (tomorrow) my ankles are swelling. I also noticed that it seems my left ankle swells more then the right one. Does that mean anything or is it just the way my body works? My BP has been low the entire pregnancy 100/60 until my last appt on tuesday where it was 117/72. I borrowed an at home BP monitor from my Mom and just took it - it was 124/70.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

Liz,

Funny I was just wondering the same thing.  I am 19 weeks and 4 days.......my legs are so swollen tonight that when I bend my ankles it leaves an indentation......prior to pregnancy I would swell all the time and take a fluid pill.  Not sure if I should do that now......going to call the dr tomorrow.

Mine doesn't seem to be BP related either...

I will look forward to the responses....

Just FYI you can't take any fluid pills during pregnancy. They will recommend support hose all day everyday.

My feet have been swelling pretty bad.  They used to be swollen at the end of the day and then they'd be normal by morning but for the last week or so, they just stay swollen.  I check my BP at home too, just in case.

I talked to my doctor about it Monday and she wasn't concerned...it's normal.  I also have one foot that swells a lot more than the other and she said that's common especially if you tend to cross your legs a particular way most of the time...like even pre-pregnancy.  For example, I tend to fold my right leg under me when I sit, and my right foot is more swollen all the time.

You do want to keep an eye on it and make sure your hands and face don't start swelling too.  Also be aware of any changes in vision or headaches.

Thanks! My hands are a bit swollen but nothing bad my rings are just a bit snug - something that would happen when it gets warmer anyway. As for headaches- I've had one on and off for a few days but my allergies are going nuts. If it continues I'll call the OB.

Thanks! Hope that you are doing OK tonight - you are getting so close.

My friend's left foot was the only one that ever swelled.  Her Dr. said it was the way the baby was laying.  Keep a close eye to make sure your face doesn't start swelling.

Wow Liz, You and baby are almost ready.  Time flies!

The weather in NYC is weird.  Today it feels quite chilly (58 will be our high), but we got up to 89 the week before last .

Don"t know about what you're going through as I've never been there - though some swelling seems so normal as late as you are in your pregnancy.  The good news is that you won't have to be big pregnant during the summer .

I'm so glad that you guys allow me to have a peak at what pregancy will be like for me.

Best,
Leila
