When to start nursery?

When did you all start working on your nursery? We have the furniture and glider picked out. We ordered it yesterday because they stated it takes 12 weeks to come in and about 1-2 weeks for delivery. So, we are looking anywhere from 12-14 weeks for delivery. I am currently 20 1/2 weeks so that would put delivery around 34 weeks.

I just feel like it is soooo early to be starting. I keep thinking I am going to jinx things. But, if that is how long it takes to come in then I had to order it!

Thanks for any replies.

We started the day after we found out the sex, which was at 21 week. I want to have everything done by the middle of May so I can relax in June and July.  We have the room paints, crown and chair rail up and furniture came last week.  No just to get the wall art, lighting switched out etc!

Fun Fun!

I had my nursery finished by the 1st of July (Alex was born Sept 6).  I didn't want it to get too hot and then be too tired to work in the room.  We decided we would work on it only on the weekends through the month of June.  It worked well for us :)

I had the room painted before I was pregnant because I have to do it myself - hubby isn't allowed to paint lol does a terrible job. WE got the crib and dresser around 20 weeks and set it up around  24-25 weeks, that's about when we put up the border and decorated the room too. I am still working on the final details and probably will be after the baby comes just because I can only do a little at a time. We also registered around the 20 week mark and I still felt a little funny doing it then.

Good Luck! Oh and I would have ordered everything too if it is going to take that long to come in.

My theory all along was God forbid something happened I WOULD be having a baby one way or another and since we aren't finding out the sex everything is neutral

Did you walk around the store with your belly pushed out?  LOL  I registered early too because of when my shower was going to.. and compared to the other moms-to-be.. i didn't even look pregnant.. so I walked around the store with as much of my belly pushed out as I could!  LOL

lol I cheated - did most of it online! WE don't really have a close Babies R Us - it's a good 40 minutes or so in a direction I never go. I did go to Target in person - luckily I still have some extra weight so I was looking a bit rounder then I was! lol

I registered around 20-21 weeks.  We put the crib in layaway around week 16 or so because it was on sale.  We haven't started the nursery.  I will get the crib around the first of May, so we probably move all the furniture out of the room within the next couple of weeks.  I haven't decided if I am going to paint or not.  If I do, I am going to have my cousin's son paint the room for me.  The we will move the furniture for the baby back in.  I am not getting my bedding until June because that is when my shower is and my in-laws are buying the bedding for us as a gift.  I don't have to do too much to the room other than move furniture and paint, if I decide.  I collect bears and that is the theme of the room, so the decorating it done, it is a matter of putting it back after painting.  I probably won't be doing much of the room.  I will be the supervisor/boss.  Plus it is a way for my hubby to get involved, which he wants to be.

Hi there!
We started the day after we found out we were having a girl, as well! It really helped me bond with the baby while I waited, and it allowed me tons of time to work. All of her furniture, except the crib, is antique, and so there was a lot of sanding and painting to be done. Have fun with it!

We started as soon as we found out the sex b/c Craig had to go to a military school from sept-nov and we were due jan although she came in Dec. I had the crib, changing station, and dresser before we found out the sex b/c it was white so it would go with any sex. But buddy as soon as we found out the sex I wanted EVERYTHING DONE the next day!! haha that's me i am soooo impatient though!! So go ahead and and wok at it. Can't wait to see pics!

We started around the same time as you...when we found out the gender.  We got the crib, etc. and waited until after my shower at 34 weeks to do much more so we could see what we got as far as gift cards and stuff.

You're more than halfway there...time to exhale.  Everything has been just as it should be so far and you need to release some of your anxiety and start enjoying the process.  Believe me, I know it's hard when you've experienced losses (been there) but think logically...buying a crib is not going to change the outcome of your pregnancy.  Nothing you do is going to "jinx' it.

Have FUN decorating your nursery...it's a great chance for you to bond with your baby.  Now that ours is done, I spend long periods just sitting in the rocking chair and picturing the room with her in it while I talk to her and rub my belly.  It makes me feel good to know that's she's already spending time there.
